Laurel Lake Walleye?
Anyone have any pointers on catching a few walleye at Laurel? I've only fished Laurel 3 times in 15 yrs. and those were for bass. KDFW give an excellent rating for walleye in Laurel this year. Not looking for honeyholes just certain patters or techniques and the best times to give it a try. Thanks in advance,Vance

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
I used to catch a ton of fish using bottom bouncers and spinner rigs in the river area.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
Vance, I am interested in the same info. You probably won't get alot of walleye help (especially on Laurel) from this board. I never have. I don't have anything to offer you, other than I want to learn myself. Maybe we will just have to get together & share info. E-mail me.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
Winter time walleye I don't know much about. But it won't be long and them big ol gals will be up and it will be on. I am trying my best to get down there to fish for them and from what I hear trolling cranks or vertical jigging spoons are working well. Right now it is trial and error and in my case mostly error. If I can ever get back there I hope to catch a few. I will be glad to help any way I can.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
You can contact John Williams for help. He is the fisheries biologst there and he did a telemtry study on Laurel's walleye back in the late 90's. He can probably tell you more about the walleye there than anyone and is a very friendly guy.
You can call his office at (606) 549-1332. You may have trouble getting him but keep calling.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
vmky,
e-mail me at . I wrote an article for Tennessee Valley Outdoors in 1999 about the walleye study on Laurel. I had a copy of the findings and I interviewed John Williams a couple of times for the article. I will have to dig it out, but should be able to get you a copy in the mail if your interested.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
I want to thank everyone who has posted so far...GREAT Information! Tim T. You will have mail real soon! And I will post All the information that I can get from John Williams on here. I just started fishing for walleye about 2 yrs. ago and my favorite lake (Big C) is getting some needed repairs. I still plan on going to the Big C as much as possible but when I saw the 2007 fishing forcast I thought It might be a good learning experiece for me to add another beautiful lake to my fishing adventures!

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
I'm heading To the big C this weekend to try for Walleye. Any good pointers.
I've fished Laurel for Walleye off and on For a few years now. I can catch a few at night on crank baits, but have the hardest time in the world catching them during the day.

On Cumberland this early in the season try drifting small shiners around major creek mouths real close to the bottom. Weather permitting in a few weeks they should really turn on at night along with the stripers. My favorite time of year to fish is in spring at night on Cumberland.

Re: Laurel Lake Walleye?
Thanks for proving me wrong, but most of the time people are pretty tight-lipped about Laurel for some reason. I'm glad you got at least some info to help you.
