Ulitmate Match Fishing

Has anyone seen the Ultimate Match Fishing matches going on at Kentucky Lake last week and this week? It was supposed to start on the 21st. I've already heard that there's an amazing story going on with it...controversial of course! I'm going by what someone told me, so I have no idea if it is true or not....here goes:

"1st of all I want to clear this up...this is totally factual. I was told by an elite series pro a few days ago about this incident. It was one of Brent Ehler's friends. It's pretty sad really...

Brent Ehler and Luke Clausen are fishin' against each other in the i believe Quarter or Semi round, dont know exactly which. Clausen has the front of the boat with 4 fish about 13 pounds. Ehler's in the back, and wacks a 5 pounder. That gives Ehler about nine pounds. Clausen buzzes away from the point but Ehler gets his drop shot on the point where he caught that 5 and let's the line out while Clausen is buzzin' the boat away so Ehler won't have another shot. Ehler hooks a 4 pounder and Clausen runs to the back of the boat and bites Ehler's line. Brent grabs the line and tries to scoop the fish in the boat, Clausen pushes him in the water. Clausen was advanced to the next round b/c of Clausen not breaking any rules..this is not a joke.."

What do you guys think...true or false???

If that is true I can't wait to see this episode unfold. But as Luke seems to hold himself, I find it very hard to beleive something of this nature coming from him. Now if it was Ike or Swindle, I wouldn't put it past them. But Cool Hand Luke? Don't know about that one. Although, I guess it could have been something staged to get ratings up or something.

Sounds like Ultimate Match Fishing is turning into WWF stuff if this is true.
It is one of my favorite shows on the Outdoor Channel, well second to Gettin' Close with Tiffany Lakaoski...I'd like to get close with her :). I guess I'll beleive it when I see it.

I would definatly have to see it to believe it. I would go along with eric and say that the only way for this to happen was if it was staged. I can't see someone going for that either especially with 50 grand on the line. Luke is not the type of person to pull a stunt like that. I remember last year thru the whole series that he wouldn't even trash talk even when he was getting verbally assaulted by swindle. I would definatly say it was false.

no Clausen is too laid back it seems like to do something like that. Getting off the spot he might do but bitting another persons line? haha i hope this is true because i cant wait to see it

Hard to believe that would happen. The pro can get a deduction for casting over the boundry line but not biting the line or pushing someone in the water? You would think a general good sportsmanship clause would be in the rules...sounds fishy to me. Would have to see it to believe it.

Well, Luke will be signing autographs tomorrow night here in Louisville, or at least he's scheduled to do so.....maybe I can get a little info out of him then!

The new shows don't come on until the end of July on the Outdoor channel

I was on KY Lake back on Wed. the 23rd (I think) and saw them fishing one of the drops I fish quite a bit just North of Blood River........haven't done much good there this year, but they ran straight to it and then took off towards the islands across from Byrd Bay.....wonder how they did on the drop?

I heard the full story last week...apparently it was a joke that got out of hand...

Luke didn't push Ehler in, he fell in - but from the camera angle, it looks like Luke pushed him! Apparently when Ehler was landing the fish, Luke thought he already had it in when he bit his line as a joke - Ehler scrambled to get the fish and then fell in as a result. I can't wait so see it air in about a month!
