Rough is rough right now.

Fished rough three times this week, including a tournament yesterday. It's a pretty tough bite right now. A few people found fish, but the majority (including me) didn't.

Shad seem to be concentrated very heavily between Peter Cave and the ski island. Didn't see many shad at all between the Island and Axtel.

Water looks good, temps are mid 70's to low 80's, but they've definitely pulled the plug on the dam. Water is dropping 1 foot per day and heading down to winter pool.

The fish we did manage to catch were on points of deep walls.

I had a fairly good weekend at Rough. Sat. Zoneton tourny was very slow, we had 1 slot but caught 10-15 all day, no keepers. Today we had a club tourny and had a small limit, biggest was 3.4 caught w/jigs mainly on bluff walls and one of my honey holes. Not to mention the 30 or so 10-14 inchers, why can't they be 18-20 inchers???

It won't be long and that lake will be on fire again.

I firmly belief these fish that swim in "schools" are taught what the legal limit is, and when to stop growing!!! *grin*

it may get better if they get used to the pull,current will position them since they are pulling a foot a day.It usually is good during the slow drop they have time to to adjust,then slow down on the fast drop,at least for me most every year on nolin and rough i have a hard time being consistent until it nears the winter pool.I think a another thing is they were still in the summer places,deeper water,when the drop started usually they are already shallow.
the fast draw may help with turnover.

I disagree. I had a good day Saturday, for a change. Sunday was the bad day for me. Fished windy points and the shallow flats on Saturday. Caught a little over 10 lb. Sunday lots of 12-13 inch and 1 keeper.

Oh yeah? You wanna share any of that information? I'm going back to Rough this weekend, and would be highly appreciative of any info!!!!

I totally agree. It's like they hit 14 7/8 then stop growing.:D
