DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
Not sure if this is where to start. Heads up 08, when the new dock opens, roughly spring 08 at the State park, The new parking regs are such, you wont be able to park your vehicle/with the trailer attached in the existing lot. Trailered vehicles will have to be parked in the upper lot. The lot by the ramp will be for vehicles only no attached boat trailers.
As bass clubs & tournament planners etc set there 08 season let them know this ramp may be a big inconvenience.........
Ill keep you posted as to when IM assuming early to late spring its all still same as b4 but once the New Dock is officially open good luck.
The other issue is the new dock will force you to idle about 1/2 mile further you will be required to go all the way around and behind the new dock which will extend to the back of the cove out to the locations of the existing buoys
It is still a go on a new ramp being built this sring, this will be located to the right as you start down the hill and just b4 u turn left to the ramp area, new ramp no new parking, plus almost 200 new boat slips
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
Supposedly they are supposed to be working with the state on getting additional parking put in. I'll believe it when I see it. The end of last summer was terrible to park and I can only imagine what this year will be like. I'm hoping they will have enough slips for weekend rental.
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
It's a brisk walk...no biggie...minor. Thanks for the info Rick...Great Post!
The lodge is one of the sweetest places to stay on Dale and at $65 for a non-view, 2 queen beds. The food is superb at times. They have needed to step things up in the development of the State Marina for a long time and Robin Jefferson is just the man for the job. He use to run Sulpher Creek.
Additional parking has got to be a must with all the space. They are going to have to move some dirt & rock too. Like break out the dynamite.
I'll be down this weekend so I'll ask around.
Keep us posted.

Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
I have not heard the mention of additioanl parking ever. I have heard several area projects cancelled by the new Gov.
New cabins are stopped and the wideing of 90 into Burkesville, (major bad news), and the same with S61 out of Columbia by Burkesville.
Robin Jefferson resigned state park and took the #2 spot at the new dock very understanding of the boaters needs........
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
Well, crap!!! I knew it was coming but I still hate it. I wish they would set something up for unloading vehicles and let the trailer-less ones park up top and allow us old, tired, aching fishermen not have to pull that dang hill. I guess it's progress?
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
Soooo...if you have a craft that you want docked in a slip then you get the priviledge of parking down low...I guess that's fine. I reckon all good things must come to an end at some point.
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
it wont make a difference if u have a slip rented or not, no trailers will be allowed in the lower lot............
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
I am greatly reconsidering hosting a tournament on Dale. We were there in December and had 40 boats. The lodge wouldn't give us a discount... yes the rooms are only $65 for a non-view, but add sales tax and another 10% tourism fee and you are way over $65. Plus the non-view rooms run out quicker so you may get stuck with a $75 room plus tax and and tourism tax. Then they hit you for around $12 for a buffet.
The parking lot was all taken over by construction equipment and materials and things did get a little congested during loading and unloading. If the upper lot is all that is allowed for boaters that lot may get full quick.
I will say this about Dale - they have some of the most helpful and friendly Rangers. We had bull horn issues and the night Ranger did everything he could to find us one.
Thanks for the info.
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
Hey Rick. Thanks for the info, keep us posted.
Is the ramp frozen up over there? Supposed to warm up some, and I was considering floating a fly some Sunday in that toasty 50 degree weather. Of course I'd be less than honest if I didn't admit the live bait option sounds pretty good too.
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
ramp was ok 2 days ago, our cages are on the new dock, no ele, out there ( no easy way to get out to it) havent pulled bait in couple wks, the bait we had was getting a lot of fungus on it as they age............we need a nice warm rainy night!
Re: DaleHollow New parking boat trailers issue
I'm considering going down and staying a night or so at the KY State Park lodge in February. I've never been there. Is there any issue right now with launching a boat there - low water, construction, etc.?

You can launch without too much trouble, it's one lane and a little rough but works. Parking as mentioned above just do as prompted by people there and you should be fine.
