Cave Run ?
What would be the best area of the lake to fish for muskie on Cave Run the first week of April? How deep would you fish and would you cast or troll? I also saw a video of some folks trolling for muskie and it looked like they were moving at a fast pace. What speed would you think a person should troll at?
Many thanks,
DA

Re: Cave Run ?
This time of year I have caught Musky using basic bass fishing tech.s I have even hooked, but not boated, one in the 40" range on a Zoom tube. Just use a good leader and cover alot of water around standing timber, or any other cover that looks like an ambush spot. Good Luck!!

Re: Cave Run ?
I had good luck using a Blue-n-Chrome Rat-L-Trap, had no problem at all catching them, and I wasn't even fishing for them...But they always seem to find my baits.....

Re: Cave Run ?
I caught a 40" the last week in March, 2 yrs ago on a jerkbait, no leader, bass fishing. Spinning rod with 10lb test line during a Fishers of Men tx.
Another fella in the club caught one 48" the same day.

Re: Cave Run ?
Thanks for the replys. It looks like we are going to be staying in a cabin in the Long Bow area.
I don't know anything about this lake but if everything goes right we will learn a little on the 4th. and 5th.

Re: Cave Run ?
Make use of a good map and be careful. Alot of Cave Run still has a great amount of submerged timber that can be just under the surface and out of sight. Run with caution anywhere off the main lake and especially up into the creeks and river.

Re: Cave Run ?
We will be as careful as possible. I have a good map and we will keep an eye out. I have seen alot of areas in the past with people running thier boats hard not knowing what is under thier boats.
Thanks

Re: Cave Run ?
The pro series is coming to CR on those dates so expect a lot of muskie fisherman. Usually 125- 150 boats.

Re: Cave Run ?
If all goes well, I may be there one day next week myself. Be putting in at Clay Lick and heading into the North branch of the Licking. Usually just get some minners, and drift around for Crappie,Cats and Bass when I see some structure or a good bank I like. For some reason, I never get out of relax mode when I'm at CR. gOOD lUCK TO yA!!

Re: Cave Run ?
Good luck to you Cobra!
I think it would be nice if all of us that take advantage of Fishin.com were able to have a decal on our boats that said fishin.com. It would be nice to be able to spot each other on the waters that we use.
I have enjoyed using this web site as most of you have. I have been out of work for over a year now due to illness and am not able to fish like I did years before. I can not cast as much any more because of the pain. I enjoy taking my son and brother out on the boat and watching them and enjoying mother nature.

That's a good idea.
Or even a hat (with the logo) in a color that's unique.:D

Re: Cave Run ?
I drove by the Cave around lunch today and it ranges anywhere from soup muddy (Poppin Rock) to heavy stain (dam end). A couple of the creeks were in pretty decent shape but were all full of pre-fishing PMTT anglers.
