Re: Sharing information....
Don't blame you one bit Elnut. I don't want to be associated with anyone like that either. I have run up on a few. You would think fellow fisherman are always willing to help anyone......guess the world is a different place this day in time.
Re: Sharing information....
That is messed up. I would do the same thing. I try to help people on here as much as I can not that I am any good but I try and would like the same in return that is what makes this site so great.
Re: Sharing information....
Elnut..I know where you are coming from. It takes all types. I will share a story with you, that is along the same lines.
I had a guy call me several years ago, to book a trip for Trophy Catfish. He booked a couple of months out, and would call every week just to discuss catfishing. Wanted to know everything, where we was going to catch bait, what area we were going to fish in, how deep, the whole nine yards. He knew exactly where we were going to meet, as he said he had caught bait there prior.
Well the morning of the trip, I was at the boat ramp 30 mins early, like always and the guy is a No-Show. I waited 2 hours and he never showed, would never answer his cell phone, all i would get was his voice mail.
I never heard from the guy till over a year later, he called me and finally admitted that he never had any intentions of fishing with me. He had come down here the week prior and was going to fish on his own and figure it out (save the price of a guide. He also said that when he came down he never got to fish, as he was backing his boat in, he tore his prop up backing it into the water. And as he was pulling out of the parking lot he got hit by a truck, messed his boat up pretty bad. Oh well, it might be bad of me but i thought it was poetic justice.
Needless to say, from that point on, I require a deposit. At least that would have paid for my gas.
And I dont blame you a bit, I only share info with a few close friends now.

Re: Sharing information....
I agree with what you are saying, most guys think that they are KVD and everything is top secret. My only question is how do you get so nuch time to fish, 2 days, 3 days, 5 days, in 4 weeks time? I can't stand it, I walk by my boat in the morning and evening to go to work, please tell me how.
Re: Sharing information....
I think tournaments are a detriment to our pasttime and the people who participate in it.
Re: Sharing information....
I don't think it is the tourneys, I fish them when I can but would still help anyone anytime I could. I might have a question sometime and hope I would get an helpful reply. I think it is just how some people are wired. I live in the Knox, TN area but that board is dead from all of the KVD's over there that I have to lurd on this side.
Re: Sharing information....
I wouldn''t go so far as to say detriment but I will say that ALOT of guys do lose themselves in the me, me, me mentality of the tournaments. Been around alot of fine people who fish tournaments but as with any sport the bad always exists.

My doctor still has not released me to go back to work even though he knows I am well enough to go fishing. I have asked to be released but due to the pretty major infection that I have had since October he wants to run a bunch of test and wait for the results before releasing me. I go on Tuesday for the test and it will take a week or so for all the results to come back. When you work for the state like I do and have been off as long as I have, they are pretty serious in that they have to have that doctor saying I am well enough to return to work in hopes of no relapses later. To tell you how, get sick have 8 surgeries in 18 months and throw in collapsed lung, pneumonia, major staff infection - TWICE, pass 9 kidney stones (1 of which required surgery until I passed it 1 hour before surgery then bled for 2 hours), plus Pseudomonus infection which is worse than MRSA that you hear about today and trust me, you won't be working and they won't want you back until you are well. Re: Sharing information....
Ouch, thats a tough way to get time off, I was hoping that you had found the secret. Sounds like you are on the road to recovery, good luck and enjoy the fishing while you can. Hope to see you on the lake sometime soon, I also do think it is ever to cold to fish, just keeps a lot of boats out of the way. Jeff
Re: Sharing information....
I know what you mean Woody, I have helped several out at T-ville and actually had one tell me that I was on the money in an area and lure but he "found a spot on the spot" I put him on and wouldn't even tell me what area it was in ( I sent him to several) I have made it no secret the way I fish T-ville and how many big fish we catch there doing it that way. I may never give anyone a certain spot to fish but I will usually put them in an area that has been productive. But you know, I hate to ask anyone for info, because your just not for sure they are being honest anyway. There are certain ones on here that I have never met but would believe if they told me they had 5 feet of snow in July, not calling anyone out but just talikng it with a big grain... bottle of salt!
Re: Sharing information....
Don't blame you as bit Elnut.....I hope their lines break now everytime they hook a fish.......Serves them right......Now where did you say to go for that 12lb smally you are stalking....lol:D
