What a mess!!!!!
I finally escaped the war zone that is western Ky. It is the biggest mess I have ever seen. There is no power, no phones (cells don't even work), and no gas. There are one or two gas stations open, with up to 10 hour waits and a likely brawl or riot every hour. I had to siphon gas out of the lawn mower to get enough gas to get far enough away to find more gas to get out of paducah. Paducah is slowly restoring power, but will likely be a week or more before it is back on. The rest of the area may not be as lucky. Marshall county had 100% power outage yesterday, and will be a while before they are back on - I hope Dave is staying warm. Some areas are estimating 30 days before power is restored.
My house is a mess. I am estimating between $10,000 and $20,000 should get us close to normal. We moved into the house loving the natural yard with plenty of trees. We don't have any complete trees, with 9 full trees laying in the yard or on the house. Had to have a chainsaw to get out of the driveway. We didn't find gas until beaver dam - which is about 100 miles from paducah. Now we are chilling, or should I say warming at my parents house in E-town.
I hope everyone on here is staying warm, and safe.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
My wife and I just spent last weekend with friends in Fredonia,Ky. I'm worried about them but still I know they will be alright. They live in a log home and have 2 wood burning stoves and plenty of firewood.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
Well my house and neighborhood got hit hard but not as hard as WK. We won't have power for a week or 10 days. We do have a generator and can run our furnance. So we don't have it that bad. My yard looks worse than it did after the wind storm. Good luck and GOD BLESS.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
From the sounds of things, the storm hit a lot worse in western KY than it did here in Lexington. Glad to hear that you are alright. Good luck with the clean up!

Re: What a mess!!!!!
We don't have it that bad! I made the run yesterday where the 3 people died in the house because of carbon monoxide poisoning. Thank God for your health.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
God bless and good luck to eveyone here. Hope all of you come through this mess ok. Maybe the users and the mods on this board could get something started to help those in need that frequent this site? I don't have a generator or a heater to lend, but i'd be glad to help in any way I can.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
Whew! Spent hours clearing the driveway from ice and picking up limbe/branches. The Sun and warmer temps sure helped out. It was amazing to see all that ice falling yesterday afternoon and this morning.
I'm glad it's over and that we were lucky enough to have minor damage. Gonna sleep good tonight.

Re: What a mess!!!!!
It's amazing how my pine and cedar trees recovered once they shed the ice layers. I've still got lots and lots of branches strewn around my property but they are not in my driveway or on my structures.
The stuff on the ground can wait till warm weather arrives for clean up. In fact, it can wait even while I take my spring fishing trips etc.
