Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
Anyone catch it? I guess I'm in the dark on some of his speech content. What checks are we getting that he said is on the way? How are we going to pay for all the fluff in his speech again? I'm not good at political economics because I always used the idea of not spending more than you have.
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
I didn't see the speech either. But on the news this morning they had a clip of it. He made a statement about his wife sitting in her section....Next thing you know the camera's pick her up and the audience gives her a standing ovation for being the new 1st lady....Give me a break, all she is is the presidents wife, who seems to be running his office like Hillary did for Bill Clinton.....Next thing you will see id her running for a Senate Seat after Obama is done with his Presidency.....:(
Plus as everyone must know by now...The stimulus check will be nothing but an advance on next years tax refunds like this past year. Hope everyone understands that it's an ADVANCE ONLY and nothing special in the way of getting any extra money from the Gubment...
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
I didn't watch it..I wanted too but I think about the time it was coming on the television my eye's started getting heavy and I went to bed...(Yep, early to bed early to rise for this ol' boy)
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
Is it true that the democrats will get their checks in about one week but the republicans won't see their checks until mid year? (stirring the pot)... :)

I think the Republicans will be sent an IOU in October. lol
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
Just remember Obama did not create this mess we are in he inherited it. After 8 years of the biggest spending in the history of this country at least he is making an effort at correcting some of the problems. I dont agree with everything he is doing but for the most part I think in the end we will be better off. Now if all of you are making a quarter of a million dollars a year then I can see why you are unhappy! And whatwas with the Republican response??? After 8 years of their mess they want to criticise EVERYTHING?? They need to quit whining and realize the MAJORITY of the american people are behind this president and are ready for a different path
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
I turned it on but spent the time cleaning my Bulgarian AKS-74. Luckily I got a splash of Hoppes #9 in my eye so it took away a bit of the sting from looking at him....
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
You do remember that a lot of the debt that is out there today came from many areas some before Bush was elected. Katrina and 9-11 which no one had a choice about. The war on terror which BOTH parties backed until they discovered that the war would not be over in just a few weeks or months.
I am not saying that I liked Bush. I can not say that I like any of our political leaders today.
And yes we had debt but not like we are going to have. In a few years we will have a new pres and he will be saying that the debt was there before he got into office.
Yes it is a time for change! I hope that I can say that I was wrong about Obama in a few years but I think he is nuts!
I do not know anyone who thinks that the stimulus - Bail Out will work. They keep spending money that does not belong to them in ways that I think most americans do not like.
Re: Obama Speech Whadda ya think?
I forced the wife and myself to watch the speech. We must understand and learn about the oppostion.
He was elected for his charisma and excellent speaking skills. I thought before the election and still hold the thought, that he is an empty suit, albeit a good looking suit.
Several subjects were of interest to me but one has to translate the truth from what he spoke.
"Education from birth thru college." Does that mean we take octomom's kids away to boot camp now?
Tax the weathiest 2% while 95% will get a tax cut. That adds up to 3% missing. Guess which 3% we'll end up in.
I thought Nancy Pelosi was going to have a stroke from jumping up and clapping so hard. The constant rising and sitting was worse than a Catholic wedding.
Touching picture of the little girl that couldn't afford a stamp to mail a letter to congress. Wonder who bought her the new dress and the bling she was wearing.
"We inherited this debt". Whoa there Mr. Democrat. Just who has been in control of congress these last several years and who just passed the biggest spending bill in history that has doubled our debt in the ONE MONTH you have been in office.
Joe Biden in the backround reminded me of Jeff Dunham's (sp) "Walter" with his dropping scowl.
Hold on tight fellows, we ain't seen nothing yet!!!!

That's what chaps my rear. Is all this last 8 year George Bush garbage, the **** Democrats have been in the Wheel House for the last several years with their stupid ideas that got us into this in the first place. Housing crash = Democrats fault.....Banking Wall Street crash = Democrats fault, the list is endless.

Plenty of blame to go around, not just Dem's or pub's. I just hope Obama can help steer us in the right direction. He seems to be making more of a bi-partison effort than the last several presidents. I am just like the rest of you on here, I have my fingers crossed for something positive to happen.
I am with Tyme on the Octomom. Why not go ahead and take them to raise- we are going to pay for them either way.
I also thought Nancy was going to pull something from jumping up and down so fast - that entertained me throughout most of it. I think she was competing with a few others in the room to be the first on her feet. I think she won. LOL!
Was Joe Biden playing tetris on his phone, or was he texting someone - did anyone else notice this?
Overall, I thought it was OK. If it weren't for the standing ovation after every sentence, I would have probably enjoyed it more.

Oh man we will never forget it since he reminds us all of that idea at every opportunity. I don't buy into it since Congress (Dem Controlled) was a big part of the spending during Bush's last few years.
Bush and his Cabinet and assorted GOP members warned Congress of the impending doom with Fannie and Freddie many times. Guess who said those GSE's were solid and doing great? Barney Frank, Shumer and the other goofball Dems we have all heard about. So Bush isn't solely to blame it's all of them! They have become so disconnected with whats right and wrong and consequences for your actions.
