Im still fairly new to fishing, what is the best bait for fish while they are on the beds. I thought it was a spinner, but I have had not very much with a spinner, my best luck is with plastics, and cranks, any help would be great. Or maybe im fishing the spinner wrong, I have tried striaght retrieve, burning and slow. I have tried stop and start, I have tried fishing it like a yo yo or a lippless.

There is a lot of debate about catching bass on beds. Personally, I don't mind, but I will always release them there - they will return to the bed. I have also caught some during tournaments, that I have to take to weigh in - I have mixed emotions on that one.
That being said. I really like lizzards, trick worms, and most other plastics. This is where I will try crazy, bright colors as well.
I like bright colors like White so I can see when they succk it in, sometimes it's so quick you can't react fast enough! They can pick up a piece of plastic and blow it off the bed and you will never feel a thing.
Don't have a problem fishing for them on beds if it's done with artificial bait but the guys who use Shiners are wrong.
Bubblegum, yellow, or white lizards. You can also swim a bluegill-colored swimbait into it. Cast past the bed, and when the swimbait gets right over the bed, let it drop -- if there is a sow on the bed she will NAIL it. The bright colors are good for sight fishing. However, be prepared to catch a lot of small male bass. Also, be patient.....most of the time the fish will slap at the bait and won't eat it. You'll think the fish has the bait, but when you set the hook -- nobody's home. Keep varying your lures until you get bit. If you're practicing, release the fish as fast as you can and let it swim back to the bed. That way our kids and grandkids will have bass to catch.:D
Fishing for bedding bass is a moral dilemma. I personally only do it in tournaments (for money). I will not do it in practice or fun-fishing.
Try fishin a chartreuse spinnerbait on the beds. You should work it by reeling and jerking and twitching during the retrieve also try stopping and jerking or twitching during the pause and then continue reeling.
Just mix it up with different variations of movement while reeling or on the pause.

I dont mess with bass on the beds, however i've found to use a 3/4oz and any plastic sinker and slam it up side the head of the bass and he'll get mad enough to bite.....this has worked very well for me.

I like jerking a suspending jerkbait into their bed. Make sure you dig it into the bottom as you do, and I just let it sit there in their bed for as long as I can stand it depending upon their reaction to it. If that fails, a soft plastic or jig in their bed works really well as a secondary plan.

I have caught a few on stick worms and super hogs. Normally by chance and if I do get one, I put it right back A.S.A.P. I'm would never try to mess with the future of a lake. Just my opinion but I hate to see fish pulled off beds and taken 20 miles away so they end up droppin there eggs in the middle of the lake or their nest eaten alive by bluegill or something and we lose a spring cycle from a big reproducer. Don't want to make wave it just my opinion.
