Re: Back from Dogwood......
I've been to Dogwood a few times in the last couple weeks. The bass have not moved up into the shallow yet. When the water gets around 68 you should be able to find them up in 5ft of water or less. Some baits to try are.. arkansas shiner colored zoom fluke, firetiger skirt with gold blade spinnerbait, red shad or tequilla sunrise worm, shad colored topwater, bright colored trick worms.. when the bass move up into the shallows you'll want to fish fast. you'll get a lot of reaction bites.. some are big others are just fun!
Re: Back from Dogwood......
Thanks................I suspected they were not spawned out.......BUT I also didn't catch any bigger females this trip.........
HM.
Thanks,
Geo
Re: Back from Dogwood......
Yeah, i havnt seen any good spawning action in Indiana yet. I'd love to know if anyone has been seein it i just havnt yet. Dogwoods just one of the lakes where you can go and catch 100 12-14in.fish and then find a group of 5+ fish right in a row. Hope you get after the big girls next time geo, thanks for the report.
Re: Back from Dogwood......

Re: Back from Dogwood......
stevens have you been to bluegrass this week? i was on loon last week before this warm front came through and I saw bass making their beds, but they weren't sticking to them yet.
Re: Back from Dogwood......
No, i havnt been unfortunatley. Been busy busy busy. This week will be all fishing, so ill be sure to report if there up on those beds.
Re: Back from Dogwood......
Quite a few bass starting to move on beds here in Central Indiana, smaller waters, rivers and some of the larger reservoirs. Think the big wave is still about 2 weeks off though with the coming full moon.
Re: Back from Dogwood......
agreed, at least i hope so. this cooler weather coming in will slow down the water increase and start to penetrate the depths to tell the big girls to come up.

I didn't see a SINGLE nest......................no gill nests or bass nests.......BUT I didn't fish the SOUTH end of the lake..........only north.

Try fishing in the coves around the campground.. you'll have to leave the main ramp.. go east thru the bouey markers head east the campground will be on your left (north) side.. there's a couple coves there that i've seen a lot of people bluegill/crappie fishing in..

That is one of my favorite areas.......I used to fish dogwood 2-3 times a week, but when I purchased my new boat, I didn't get a mount for a 9.9, and I really don't have a way to use a 9.9 on it........
Fortunately, I was able to kind of fish it on the trolling motor........
I wish there was a way to run power from the camp ground down to my boat........but I'd be afraid of electricution or something........
I've even though about a generator, but that is just too much hassle.
