Re: Air Force One Fly over?
More IDIOCY from this great administration. I hope Notre Dame tells this guy to take a hike. I'm sorry guys but any United States administration and it's President who sets up a speech at Georgetown college or any college for that matter and feels compelled to cover up the word God Or Jesus to give a speech I CAN NOT GET BEHIND! Sorry I'm just stupid I guess......

Much as I disagree with much of what you say, I could never call you stupid. And if they had covered up only the mentions of God and Jesus, I would actually agree with you. But in this case, I think what's happening is the media is actually putting a conservative spin on a story, for a change. If you look at the story at http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Jesus-Missing-From-Obamas-Georgetown-Speech.html the headline says, "Jesus Missing From Obama's Georgetown Speech." But if you read the story, a couple paragraphs down it says:
"Julie Bataille from the university's press office e-mailed me that the White House had asked that all university signage and symbols behind the stage in Gaston Hall be covered. "The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches," she wrote. "Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context.""
IMHO it makes a whole lot more sense after reading that. They didn't want ANY signage at all, religious or not. The IHS and cross are actually part of a larger insignia, and they felt that displaying only part of it would be disrespectful, so they covered it entirely.
As for the flyover (a real bonehead move), Obama apparently didn't know about it ahead of time, and was pretty ticked when he found out:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/27/low.flying.plane/index.html
"First thing is, I'm annoyed -- furious is a better word -- that I wasn't told," he said, calling the aviation administration's decision to withhold details about the flight "ridiculous" and "poor judgment."
"Why the Defense Department wanted to do a photo op right around the site of the World Trade Center defies the imagination," he said. "Had we known, I would have asked them not to."

I know I didn't say Barry knew about it so why the need to defend this guy? Jeez...But since you bring it up I'll bet my bottom dollar he knew about it. Since when does this EGOMANIAC miss an opportunity? Ole' Mel Brooks said it best....It's good to be the King!
Re: Air Force One Fly over?
In all my life time, I've never see a President on TV so much taking up precious airtime of viewers. When Obama comes on TV, I flip channels until I don't see his face. Talk about a waste of Tax payers dollars....The airtime ain't cheap, unless since he's the President he gets "Free" airtime.
Re: Air Force One Fly over?
Roadtoad you are a liberal and I am a conservative I would fully expect you to disagree with almost everything I say, it's the natural order of things. They can back pedal now all they want and put as much spin on it as necessary to keep his excellency out of hot water, but we all know why they really covered it up now don't we......
Re: Air Force One Fly over?
My work schedule has changed to where I'm back on straight days, so I don't get as much time in front of the box to follow the news. I just wonder if the air crew of the plane (Air Force, right?) will be punished? You know they were just following the order of whoever was on the plane, but there are rules for both military and civilian aircraft about minimum altitude. I don't claim to know exactly what those rules are, just that they have 'em.

Sssssssssssssssssssssh! They'll call you a Racist!
Re: Air Force One Fly over?
If BHO doesn't want any signage at religious institutions, he shouldn't go to them. If I were to be asked by anyone to cover up anything deemed to be religious, we are going to have a problem. To me it is more disrespectful to cover up the religious signage. These religious institutions need to grow a back bone and tell our most religious leader of the free world that he isn't welcome.
Yes I remember when the military went in against private citizens in Waco and the slick one was asked about it. He didnt know a thing about it. He said go ask Janet Reno. Obviously the buck stops somewhere else. We tortured those poor folks with bright lights and loud rock music and sleep deprivation. As for BHO, I'm sure he wont go after the ones that actually flew the planes, but will go after the ones who said it was ok. Wait a minute, that only goes for those who were in charge of keeping us safe after 911.
Re: Air Force One Fly over?
It wasn't Air Force One, because the Pres. wasn't on the plane, but IT WAS STUPID!!!

He wasn't at a religious institution, he was at Georgetown University.

Actually if you wanted to split hairs here, Gerogetown is a Catholic School therefore it would be considered a religious institution wouldn't it.............
