I have fished it and only caught dinks. However I have seen a couple 5 lbers come out of Owsley Fork Lake but they were taken after dark.
You need to fish weedless there, since the lake is totally full of weeds. Also be careful (or mindful) of wind. It gets really windy so make sure you can make it back to the ramp.
Owsley Fork is trolling motor only.
One more thing... that lake is close to being closed off I am told due to trash. I know that nobody on this forum would dump trash but keep an eye out for those that do and turn them in.
The CO is very often at Owsley Fork writing people up in canoes without lifejackets.
Be ready to fish lots and lots of grass...we i did fish it,flukes, senkos and wacky rigged trick worms usually would be the trick
I have caught some decent fish on the **** with a small silver buddy
Have caught a few nice smallmouth out of it, and ya lots of small fish.
Never even crossed my mind about smallmouth being in there. Interesting...
never seen a smallmouth, but not discounting it, i fish weedless soft plastics, usually in watermellon, never caught a monster but usually some solid fish.
Thanks for the help fellers....
Rangermac put one in the boat around 4lbs one day while we were trolling back to the dam, never caught more than 1 or 2 a trip but they were there, but shut that was 30 years ago. Wow Charlie we are getting old.
went down ther tonight, caught 2 fish, one dink, one decent spotted. water is down pretty bad right now, which hurt and helped. opened up more bank to walk but shallower fishing. to anybody that might be still watching this post.
I realize this thread is old as dirt, but I live about 30 minutes from this lake, and this year this little body of water has turned on. I haven gotten a monster out of it this year, one about 4 lb is the best so far, but there's some dandy fish in there. I hung one on a crappie rig that woulda went 8lb easily. I would highly recommend this little lake. Plenty of cover to fish and the restrictions to electric motors only keeps a lot of your big boaters out of there. They also have a saturday morning tournament out there that starts at 7 i think. Check it out sometime fella's, if you don't get that trophy fish you'll have so much fin catching a boat load of 12-15" fish it will still make the trip worth it.
I seem to remember hearing about a lot of vehicles being broken into while boaters were on the water. I have been to this lake a few times, but I was always concerned about my truck back at the boat ramp. Very nice lake. Has the security improved, or were the reports I heard overblown?
