Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
I live within 4 miles of the shores of Cumberland, and stay up to speed on what goes on down there for the most part. Well on another board that I frequently visit, there was rumor that turned to fact that the annual Bullet Tourney was being moved from Cumberland to Kentucky Lake and to May 1st because Cumberland was going to be dropped 15 more feet. Has anyone else heard this???? Why are they dropping it 15 more feet?
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
I go in thru Russell Springs,Indian Hills dock, was down there 2 weeks ago and when I asked about the dam they said 15-25ft to account for the winter weather with the rain the area had this summer it slowed th repair.Seems to me ( Im not a biologist) its over kill. Im afraid what that might do to all life in the lake..... Then again it all could be just dock talk
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
I also heard this rumor and thought it was just that a rumor. Are you sure this is fact, I hope not.
I'm doubting very seriously that the Corp is gonna do this, let's all try to find out for sure before we get to keyed up.

Im not sure if they are moving the tourney or not because I picked a flyer up the other day and it was scheduled for cumberland. Marine works is having t this year instead of anglers outpost.
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
MHall, pardon my wording, I was a little keyed up when I typed this. The tourney is in fact being moved to KY lake, that is what was the fact. Their reasoning was because of the draw down of the lake that is scheduled to happen sometime before the 31st of October. I was wondering if that was what was true or not. See my theory is over the past couple of years that Bullet Tourney hasn't had the mass turnout they were expecting, I just thought maybe this was a cop out for them...again this is solely my theory.
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
KR, please post you're source of info. about this draw down on Cumberland. Myself I do not beleive it as all the marinas would be notified first, and this would be pushing the water intakes and the power plant again.
This would be major news and I have not seen any reports from anyone.

Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
Pro V, My source of info came from a guy on the BBC Boards who was interested in fishing the Bullet Tourney, when he called to get pre-registered he was told the tourney had been cancelled/moved to Kentucky Lake next spring because of the drawdown. Call Marineworks in Nicholasville, they are the ones apparently who are telling this.
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
:mad:OK, has anyone talked "directly" to the COE of KDFWLR on this matter?
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
The last I heard was if they get good readings in critical area 1 from the new grouting operation that they may be able to raise it 10ft. to 690 this Spring.
Where is that red rumor button that the COE had online for awhile?

Dave I was told bt several around the lake earlier this year and a Corp guy I spoke to kinda confirmed it. They really think the 690 level is a reachable goal for spring of 2010. But of course this is not scribed in stone and things could change on a dime.
I'll guarantee you this, if they were planning on coming down to 670 or lower it would be major news and the Marina's would be having a Cow about now.
Re: Cumberland Question...This bothers me!!!!
The COE offically announced early this summer that they will not consider raising the lake level until the grout work is completed, which is projected for Oct. 2010. At least until then, they plan to maintain the level at 680. This was straight from the project commander to a group of marina owners.
