What are you looking for............
LOTS of fishing, good bass, good panfish???
One of my favorite camping/fishing areas is Dogwood, but your motor is too big. If you can get a smaller hp motor on that (9.9), that I'd DO that in a heartbeat.
Outside of that, I also like the Hooser National Forest area in Perry County, IN. THEY have great campsites, and the fishin in the 3 lakes is pretty good also.
Another option.......I know you don't like BIG water with your smaller boat, but I used to take a 17ft with a 50 to KY lake all the time. I'd trailer to 2-3 different bays in a weekennd, and put in where I could. I still managed to catch GOOD numbers of decent fish that way.
BUT......my all time FAVORITE camping vacation in in the Boundary Waters in CANADA.........GREAT fishing, great wilderness experience, and really not too expensive, if you have most the gear..........oh, and it is a canoe trip.
Hope this helps.
Later,
Geo

Re: vacation(fishing)
Patoka primitive campground should fit the bill. You have all the motor you need for the Lick Fork area. Then if you want to try another area just trailer your boat to Wall Ramp. These are both 10 MPH areas.

Re: vacation(fishing)
West Boggs is nice place to camp. Bass fishing is tough sometimes, i think of it as 5 bites a day type deal anymore (for me anyway), but theres always a chance at some real big bass. Bluegill and catfishing has more action if the bass give you trouble.

Re: vacation(fishing)
I would have to vote for the boundary waters, or the lakes bordering it in ely minnesota. You have the perfect rig for it. The moose lake chain is phenomenal as well as day trips into basswood. We have had excellent luck as well on the white iron chain of lakes. If i was picking i would do a weeklong tent camp on basswood. I forgot to mention that most of the lakes in the boundary waters proper are closed to motors but you cant go wrong putting in at the moose lake entry, motoring upto basswood and making it your home for a week. Gosh this is giving me cabin fever is it June yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have been to basswood a few time myself great fishing stayed at resort on moose lake and portaged over to basswood out of sucker lake at dam to basswood .We were using 25hp moters on basswood couple years ago. But don't forget you need a permit to go to basswood and the lottery drawing is in January.
