I'm headed to Nolin with Dad in the morning. This is the time of year when we usually chase the bass schooling around the baitfish, and hopefully run into some white bass in the "Jumps".
Anyone been to Nolin in the past week or so?

Nolin was a little slow for me last weekend. Only fished 7-10 Sat and 7-9 Sun though. We chased some whites/LM/spots just outside of Turtle Bay on Sat morning and caught 3 decent whites (12") and a couple small spots in the first hour. Bass fished from there on long slow point, deeper house foundation, and a channel ledge where I've always caught fish and had one hit in 2 hours. Sunday we ran to Brier to look for the whites/LM topwater action and it wasn't happenin'....caught one keeper on a 10" worm on a nearby drop and then back to Conoloway lookin on top again and nothing...bass fished about an hour in there without a hit and headed back to the house. Several tourneys going on both mornings and everyone I saw was fishing long slow points...didn't see any fish caught, but don't know results.
Hopefully it will be a bit better this weekend....it had been good the previous couple weeks. Whites should start to get more active/schooled up any time now.
Good luck
Had some decent days up in the river over the weekend. For LM. Once the sun gets up it gets a little tough.
It took 18.89lbs to win the USA Bassin on Sunday.
Rudy, how'd you guys do?
It wasn't the best day I have ever had on Nolin....But DANG close!
We put in at Moutidrer(SP?) and went directly to "Red Rock". We found schools of bait being chased by bass at the mouth of the cove and worked our way into the cove, following the schools of bait.
The bite slowed down, so we moved back onto the main lake and found more baitfish, and caught several more by following the bait and throwing super-flukes.
We went further down the lake and found a small cove where the bait fish were found through-out, and caught some bigger fish from this cove.
We finally moved close to the dam-area, but only caught one more fish and called it a day.
Dad caught around 20 bass, but only one keeper. I caught around 50 bass, and only had 3 keepers, but they were all in the 3lb range. Dad and I both lost several fish that I am sure would have been keepers.
ALL of my fish were caught on the fluke, But Dad caught some on a berkley worm. The keepers I filleted had some of the thickest fillets I have ever seen come off a bass. They will be some fine eating.:)

Wait, I got to get my popcorn.
Thanks Rudy...we didn't throw flukes in the jumps we saw last weeken, just rooster tails for white bass (my weapon of choice when it comes to whites). I'll look for them again and try a fluke this weekend and see what we can come up with. And as for those filets, shame on you for tryin to crash the fishin.com servers today ;-) I'm shocked at the lack of response from the masses. However, I personally believe that you or anyone else for that matter, has every right to their legal limit and to do with them what he/she pleases (including rolling them in some Zataran's New Orleans Style meal and dropping them in hot oil). Enjoy your fish fry!

You have GOT to try those flukes next time around. There is kind of a trick to it, as you need to hit the "jump" as soon as you see it, or try to determine which way the bass were facing and throw just ahead of them.
I can't wait to get back and try it again. We didn't catch the first whitebass.
Did you catch Black bass or Stripes?

All largemouth. No whites to be found that day, they just aren't ready yet I guess.
