Re: Best Rod Under $175???
The Crucial is a great rod. If you like the feel, you can't go wrong with that one. I really like that Shimano has a nice warranty that comes with the rod, if you ever need it.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Lamiglas Excel ($109), or the Powell Mag ($139) both available at TackleWarehouse.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Ducketts rods are sweet and under $175.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Shimano Crucial all the way...for the price range you are looking for.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Just bought a Team American Rodsmiths rod, the one with the golf grip. It's $150 and a great rod. I used it interchangeably with a Loomis shakey head rod (much more $$$) a couple of weekends ago, and I think it stacked up very well. They've got them at a20, just down the street from the BPS in Clarksville.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Any St. Croix rod is an excellent choice, they have some great warranty offers and a tradition of excellence to back it up. I have two Triumph spinning rods, which are the entry line at 60 bucks a piece. I also have the step up in the St. Croix Premier spinning rod series which runs about 90-100 bucks per rod. Couple these rods with Pflueger reels and it's a true delight.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Dixie Stick rods from Dixie Marine in Fairfield OH...pretty good value at less than $100.

Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Another vote for the Crucial. Purchased mine last spring and love it!! Great feel!!
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
I just received this from a bait and tackle shop in Springfield MO. I thought it interesting but I do not know anything about them.
We have just received the new TEMPLE FORK OUTFITTER casting and spinning rods.
Designed by master rod maker Gary Loomis {the same Gary Loomis that designed Loomis rods}.
These rods retail for under $100.00 with a lifetime warranty.
Re: Best Rod Under $175???
Well the holidays are just around the corner and I see lots of talk on here about rods and reels. I am looking for a new rod to add to the locker. I am looking for the best rod for under $175. Bass Pro has me sold on the Shimano Crucial...but I wanted to check with my people first. Any help is appreciated!
Got a couple of cane poles in the garage for sale at the right price, or could point you in the right direction to cut you own. Last I knew they were free for the cutting.....so the price is a bit lower than a Shimano! LOL, just kidding, but I do know a place to cut some cane rods,.....did that for both my grandchildren.....brings back memories of my childhood on the creek.
