The school leadership in Bullitt County is talking about giving up President's Day off and a professional development day to make up for snow days. What was wrong with Monday as a make-up day?

So I guess you do not support any Holliday? No 4th of july, no labor day, no veterans day, no thanksgiving, no Christmas, no new years day, no presidents day, No memorial day?
Where does your family tree lead? Is it Grinch or Scrooge? Gotta be one or the other.

What the heck is a professional development day? How do they document time spent developing thier profession? Do they just take the day off or do they actually have to attend a trainning course or othewise document how they used the time?

Sure I support all those holidays:). I just do not agree with special treatment of MLK day for gubment thats broke and already gets too many days off. What makes them so special that we have to pay them to sit at home for MLK? Wonder what that cost us? I don't agree that a private citizen should get that honor, why should he? Of course labor unions backed this original idea.... it's just another White guilt trip laid upon the american people...JMO.
Kids could have gone to school to make up for a snow day.
Family tree leads to Santa seeing how my last name is Dasher so be nice or next year you ain't getting squat.:p

I will be careful!!! I don't think honoring Dr king is tied to broken government. Believe it or not there were very prejudice practices in the country durring his time. I am old enough to have witnessed many of them. I remeber when I was about 10 years old and my father hired a black fellow in his bussiness. We had threats and vandalizm from this, However, he did not back down and Louis worked with him for years. But I remember being called the term nigger lover then. All for hiring a black man.
As far as a private citezen being honored with a holliday remeber Washington, Lincoln and all presidents were at one time were private citezens. Dr King did not live long enough to run for an office.
So anyway I thought is was very coincidental that I would run across this deed just before MLK day.
But I really support the hollidays that I get off. heck with the rest.

Teachers are required to document a certain number of training hours each year. I don't know if they are required to attend training on those specific days now, but they didn't use to. However, if they didn't use those off days for training, they had to use their "unpaid" time in the summer to complete the required training.
