help with Stratos 201 pro
I`ve got a 89 Sratos 201 pro with a 94 Venom 200 with a Raker 24pitch. I know that a few of you have had them...I know Devilshorse has had one cause I redid his. But what I`m asking is that mine will only run 54-55 GPS at 5200. I know the 200`s red line is 5500-6000 rpm. I figured this to be at lest a 60mph bout, the motor had a renagade 4 blade 25Pwhen i got it,,and would only get 4800 with it. I love the way it handles and rides.I know it`s a heavy boat but figured it would be faster then that..I know i can twick the jack plate alittle better cause i detuned it down ffor Doug..Tell me what you all think...
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
I had an 89 201 with an 88 200 on it and that was within a couple miles per hour of what I was getting. From what I was told those were heavy boats to start with and then the foam sometimes picks up water in them making them even heavier. You might have your prop checked and make sure the pitch is what they are supposed to be because I was turning the 25p Renegade to 52-5300 rpm.

Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
dont know if this helps, but my skeeter was about that fast when i got it.they had the motor too high. i dropped it an inch and picked up 12mph,and handling increased tremendously. also, i put on a 26 from the 25 it had. ended up right around 70mph.
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
well I may play with it alittle more,,where I`m moving too I don`t need alot of speed,,cause they are not like our lakes,,my runs my be at most 5-6 miles,,,but was wondering
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
My buddy used to have a 94 or 95 201 with a 200. He had a 26 raker and would get about 65 running 5900 rpms. I think it had an 8 inch jack plate. Sounds like you need to raise the plate. Also make sure the throttle plates are opening up all the way at wide open.
The only other thing I can think of make sure that the boat is not water logged. I have heard stories of people finding all the floatation foam water logged in the boat adding a bunch of weight.
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
does the boat seem to lift properly when trimming up? if it seems doggy or never wants to come up, your motor is too high. something to check. everybody always tried to get their motor up out of the water. ive seen nothing but negative effects from it personally.
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
well she does come out of the hole pretty good,,motor revs good,,don`t think it`s it`s too water logged,,cause i know all about that working with the trackers..just got to figure out how to get more RPM`s with out lowering the pitch,,cause i hear all these guiys running 26-27 pitch and figure you got to either have a light boat,,or a hell of a motor..lol i`ll play with the hack plate,,and one thing i don`t do is blow that big roostertail,,to me thats not pushing but blowing out,,,,all show,,
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
in that case, bump it up 1/2 inch and try it,maybe even try an inch and see what difference good or bad it makes.if its worse,go the other way
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
you might want to post on bass boat central about your boat. they have forums dedicated to bass boat setups, and another on propellers. lots of information on the site

Watch your water pressure when raise your motor up

definately...that was so common sense,i didnt think to put it...lol
Re: help with Stratos 201 pro
well I checked and played with it some last night,,I`m running about 33/4 below the pad,,I push 25lbs pressure running..think I`ll take her up about 3/4 in and start from there...but I think you all are right,,she is a heavy built boat,,I cut the front deck out to install a pan,,and that sucker was 2 layers of 3/4 wood...my poor cordless saw had a hell of a time going thru it,,,but I figured it still should be a 60mph boat or close..
