Re: Wanna give NASCAR Props
Agreed 100% Mark....Yep it is good. Bayne even praised God many many times on his radio and on national TV after winning the race. Good for him!
This sport has evolved with Black car owners, drivers, crew members, Hispanic drivers, women drivers, women owners and American Indian owned business have sponsored cars. Seems like this sport has tried to give everyone an opportunity.
That being said I'm very happy to see the sport not buckle under the political correctness craze the country is under.

Yes Don my point exactly. They could very easily do the prayer during a commercial break, but no they make sure that it is televised, I love it, NASCAR has balls.

Agree completely guys.
Only been to one NASCAR race, Talledega. Had as much fun watching the people as the race. Earnhardt led a single lap in a banged up, duct taped car and the crowd went rabid. Them folks loved #3...and hated Jeff Gordon with a purple passion.
Re: Wanna give NASCAR Props
I also agree 100%....I've been to a few Nascar races and them there rednecks sure know how to get'er done....They're a blast and anybody that hasn't been should give one a shot....
Re: Wanna give NASCAR Props
I like NASCAR also - although not as much as I used to.
I've been to a few races. I remember I went to the Atlanta race one year and in the prayer, the preacher actually thanked God for finally letting Earnhardt win Daytona! ;) LOL!
(That being said, I think they ruined Daytona this year. It doesn't seem right to have to race with one car pushing another all the way around the track).

Same here. It didn't work for me. Glad this plate race is over and am looking forward to some racing on different tracks.

NASCAR didn't cause the drafting issue......Daytona did by repaving the surface. Also, you guys are spot on about the PC stuff that NASCAR ignores. However, something that I have never understood about religion and "thanking God' for the victory is this.....does God really care who wins the race....do the drivers (or other athletes) really think that God made them win. What they should be thanking God for is the opportunity to be in the position to compete....thoughts?

I'm not quoting because I'm going on memory...I actually took his comments as he did thank God for the opportunities. Statements like "he made this possible" means to me that this young man actually feels and trusts that through God all things are possible. It's called faith and you either have it, question it or you don't have it at all.
He prayed before the race with his team and after. He seems genuine to me. My personal belief is that God doesn't run your life but he will guide you if you seek a relationship with him. It's a personal decision for sure.
Anytime someone tries and give praise to God is fine with me.:)
Re: Wanna give NASCAR Props
not about nascar, but about God, A commentater once asked a priest if crossing your self, before a boxing match works? ans. YES if you can box
