Re: Guist Creek Results???
If you saw someone without their pfd's on when big motor was running you should have reported it to tournament diretor. But since you left early you would not be able to do that. The winner of the tournament had over 12#. Big fish was over 5#. I think only about half the field caught fish.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
how many boats were in the tournament?
Re: Guist Creek Results???
I think between 25-30 boats. Then I think half of Shelby County decided to come out and fish and boat also, which is fine, but it was very crowded yesterday. People were still rolling in as we were leaving at three. Yesterday was the first tourney at Guist that I failed to weight in at least one fish. It kinda stunk but thats fishing. I am thinking about doing the Green River division. I didn't like the fact that the tourneys are now on Sundays either. Yesterday kicked my butt. I crashed on the couch as soon as I got home and didn't move which didn't make the wife too happy.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
Yep, there were 26 boats. And it sure was crowded out there.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
I plan on heading to Guist tomorrow morning. Is the lake in good condition to fish. I dont know of any other lakes within the louisville area that are fishable. Taylorsville appears a waste of time from what I hear. Is Guist worth the 45 minute drive?
Re: Guist Creek Results???
The way our day at the tournament went you would think not but that lake is ready to turn on. Its just a matter of being there when it does. There were several nice fish brought in to the scales yesterday. Warmest water I found was 56* more or less. If I were going fishing tomorrow morning I would go there. Good luck if you go.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
Thanks for the response. I didnt need much convincing and you gave me just enough. As long as its not pouring when I wake up I will be there in the AM. Hopefully I can ge into them a little bit, still looking for that first fish of the year. Ill be sure to post my results as well.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
13 boats weighed in fish yesterday with the winner weighing in just shy of 13lbs (12.81).
Big fish went 5.46lbs.
If you saw an incident on the water that should have warranted my attention, you should have let me know or filed a complaint. Complaints are to be turned in in written form. You can identify a boat in our tournaments by the ribbons on the trollling motor from livewell checks.
As far as the tournaments being scheduled on Sundays, you're not being forced to fish them. You should fish the tournaments that fit your schedule. I'm not trying to rub you the wrong way, but I felt that Sundays were best because some of the guys have to work on Saturdays (myself being one of them). However, the fact that they are on Sundays doesn't seem to affect the turnout and I would say that everyone was pleased.
Also, Guist is a small lake with several community spots. When that many boats are on a small lake, the water is going to be shared. Sorry you had a bad experience, and you are more than welcome to contact me to discuss anything you have in mind.
Re: Guist Creek Results???
I dont know why they have tournaments there that big. I dont think the lake is big enough to support a tourney with over 20 boats and then you add in the non-tourney fisherman on a pretty day and its crazy on that lake. I was there friday and it wasnt that crowded and i still had 2 boats pull in frt of me on the bank i was fishing. Before long there will be road rage on the lake but they will call it water rage ! How long before someone gets shot for cutting in frt of another fisherman ? Oh well there my 2 cents. Later jc
Re: Guist Creek Results???
Definitly not rubbing me the wrong way. I am not trying to take a shot at you, the way the tourney is run, or the day its on. I just wanted to vent some frustration. In fact, that was one of the smoothest take offs I had seen there. I was unsure if the guy that cut me off was with us or not. And since I took out early I guess I won't know. I never even thought to look for a ribbon until we were both gone and out of sight. Yes it made me mad but its just the fact that some people have no common courtesy. I know there are many "holes" that everyone knows about. I show respect to whomever is fishing them at that time. I guess some people just don't know any better. This has been brought up here before and I'm sorry to bring it back up.
I think that Sundays are a good idea for sure, for the very reason that you gave. It helps me too. I just wasn't expecting to feel like I just went three rounds with Mike Tyson at days end. Sunday was always a nice day to recooperate and be lazy, but I will adjust and get used too it. The only reason I feel like I would switch is because of me and my lack of confidence in the lake. I was coming off a good fall season with a second place finish on the last event and ticked because I didn't have a bite all day. Nothing that you have done would affect that decision.
I know this is your first division you have run and I think you did a heck of a job. I will be there for the next tourney. Oh and I have your chip by the way. I forgot to ask what boat you were in at the start or I would have come and found you and given it to you. I'll be there early so that you will have it in time. Do you remember what team won and how did you guys do? Thanks for your time and look forward to seeing you next time.

Re: Guist Creek Results???
Its not everyone that does stupid things. But, its the select few that give tourney anglers a bad name. The Guist event is usually not that crowded and as the summer progresses, those numbers will drop some. It always does. When you throw in the fact that this was the warmest weekend we have had so far, everyone wants to get out, and I can't blame them. When you put fifty boats on Guist, things do get stacked up. I'm with you on someone pulling a gun on someone else at some point some where. There are too many people packing guns around that probably have no business even owning one.
