New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
When I read this I was immediately bummed but am still confused. Is the limit 15 fish per boat or per person? I can handle the per person limit but per boat really cramps my style as I was putting in 30-50 fish on a 4-5 hour day jugging. You talk about some awesome fish fries over the summer!!
Re: New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
and you wonder why theres a limit now? lol
Re: New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
It's my understanding that ALL creel limits are "per person". Wouldn't make sense to make limits on a "per boat" basis (exempting commercial fishing).
2011-2012 Regs (new) : A 15-fish daily creel limit on blue and
channel catfish on Taylorsville Lake.
One fish of the daily creel limit may
be greater than 25 inches long.

How do you think a jugging tournament would do at Taylorsville lake? I was thinking $20 per boat, $5 for big fish. Weigh the 5 biggest catfish. Does anyone have any input?

I never said I didn't understand it. I fully understand b/c I'd go out there and there would be 3-5 other boats jugging just within sight of my spot. A lake warden/ranger whatever pulled up to me once and asked how I was doing and I told him I had 47. He said there was a guy in the same spot the previous night who filled up 2 48 quart coolers with cats jugging there. I'd say that would be well over 150 fish.
I saw this coming a few years ago as the fishing slowed down and the number of juggers increased. I understand it but am still bummed by it. So as long as I have my kids with me, I can keep 45 and that's totally fine with me.

It would be very hard to get people to keep only 5 fish. If you let them keep up to 15 per person but weigh only 5, I think you'd have a good turnout.
Re: New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
Thats a great idea....Do you think the price per boat is about right?

Re: New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
I was thinking maybe a Sat night from 6pm to 10pm.
Re: New limit on catfish at Taylorsville
I have never jugged at night and really don't care to....especially on T-ville. there's too much stuff in that lake and around the edges and I don't want to deal with chasing jugs with a light. When I jug, I spread them out over 200-300 yard strip til I find them and then tighten it up. I wouldn't want to do it at night.
