Ky River report
Fished Kentucky river on sunday without much luck. caught about six bass but all were only 7 or 8 inches long! I did manage a drum and a nice catfish on crankbaits. The water was fairly muddy with good current. We spooked alot of little fry hanging on wood structure but didnt see any decent size shad. A few year ago the bass bite here was consistently good with lots of keeper size fish available. The last 2 years have been tough for me. Any thoughts why?

Re: Ky River report
Since the flood 2 years ago bass fishing on the river has not been the same. I am not sure what the flood did to the bass but I am convinced the numbers just are not there. I have caught some good bass on the river this year but they have been few and far between. The best days on the river are fishing the creeks when the river is up and muddy. Before the flood it seemed there was an abundance of ky's in the river now I very rarely catch any ky's. I hate that this has happened because the river is my favorite place to fish and probably one of the most beautiful places to be on the water. All we can do is hope that it eventually gets back to what it was.

i agree about the flood, it hasnt been the same. fish and wildlife say floods dont bother fish, they find places to get out of the current etc. personally i dont believe it one bit. it has to effect the fish, i ve seen the fishing fall off numerous times after a high water event. in my opinion i d like to see the ky river dammed up some where and make a big lake in this area of the state. the river is practically unfishable most times of the year due to water conditions. fish and wildlife are just wasting their time and our money stocking that thing. I say Dam that Thing!

Re: Ky River report
I fish the river a lot, and I have to agree that in the past five years the bass activity has been in decline, this year being the worst. Another thing that has happened most of the big trout have been washed out of the Dix as well. I have not seen many trout above 2 lbs caught in the past 2years. Most people don't realize how much water comes down the Dix below the Dam in flood season. I live near the river so I see the affects of the water each year.

Re: Ky River report
I agree that the river has been tough this year. But on the subject of damming it further, I wish they would take the old locks down and return it to its natural state.

Re: Ky River report
If it were to be dammed up to make a large lake who do you want to displace?

Re: Ky River report
i think it part of the flood and the muskie

Re: Ky River report
What pool are you fishing and i did hear about a spill on the river that killed alot of fish.

Re: Ky River report
I think people that blame the large, native game fish for decline in their personal fishing success are wrong to do so.
While it's nothing personal to you, I hear this argument alot and I couldnt disagree more.
