NRL 8/26/11
Took the F-in-law out to NRL yesterday...got to the dam ramp (:p) around 3:30pm...warm and windy. Water temps 85, clear. Cruzed around looking for surface activity, nada. Hit some primary points, caught a few dinks on flukes and cranks. Went back into some creeks, caught a few more dinks, then decided to pound the banks, as we could find no activity in the open water. First keeper came about six inches off the banks with a fluke....second came about the same distance on a wacky...once we determined that these fish were sitting right on the bank, we started to have a great evening. Wacky's, flukes, lizards, and hogs all caught fish...you had to weed through the dinks to get to the keepers, but we ended up with 7 keepers, nothing over 3lbs. We went back to the dam, and fished into the night...as soon as it got dark, we really started wacking them...we gave up when we casted into the trees for the hundredth time, haha...dark as you know what out there last night! All in all, good day. Sad that the jumps are done already. They went much longer last year. Oh well.

Re: NRL 8/26/11
Hey rich, i fished that nolin fest all nighter, last sat. We never saw a jump in the afternoon, but right at daylight, sun they were several busting shad, in the mouths of creeks. One of my buddies caught a limit, on topwater that morning, but did'nt help his weight. Thought you might want to try the a.m. Before you have to circle the wagons and head west... Tr

Thanks for the heads up! Was that the north or south end of the lake? I guess I need to give up the evening fishing, and try and wake up for the morning bite. Thanks again!

I have found that the metal flake 4" Gander Mountain brand fluke works the best at NRL IMO.

I hope to have accumulated enough reports over the last few years in the archives, that you all can just pull them up for whatever time you plan on going....haha! :p

Re: NRL 8/26/11
I was down last weekend for my yearly guys weekend so bent my elbow a lot but a lot more with cans than poles but did go out sunday and went into a small cove. It looked so good i had to get a pole out and on the second cast with a plastic worm i hooked a monster. Fought it to within 3 foot of the boat and it came unbuttoned. All i seen was a big swirl so it could have even been a catfish ? If it was a bass i would say it was probably going to be the biggest bass i have ever caught out of nolin. Oh well at least it was a good fight to the boat. Later jc

Re: NRL 8/26/11
i fished sunday morning in the jumps. the jumps were pretty scattered but still going somewhat. caught 10 all together, all largemouths with one white bass. they are still jumping but not as good as they have in the past.

Amen to that....I think the am is the only time to see any jumps at all anymore. It used to be killer in the pm, but I think that is over with.

So how's the bite over all there at NRL? Morning, are they shallow going deeper the later it gets in the day?
