different baits/ different line??
its getting about time to change my line for day time fishing again... i was wondering what you all use?
jig/worm
spinnerbait
shaky head
crank bait
i usually just use mono on them all just different sizes but this year i wanna try other types of line braid, mono or floro. wondering what everyones favorite or what we think the best lines are...
thanks!
Re: different baits/ different line??
Worm - fluoro
jig - braid with fluoro leader
shakey - fluoro
spinnerbait - fluoro or mono
crank - Mono or fluoro on glass rod
topwater - mono
considering going to braid with fluoro leader on shakey and worm.
braid with fluoro leader on all my ultralight stuff except topwater.
Re: different baits/ different line??
Seaguar..seaguar..seaguar..seaguar and more seaguar!!! Depends on what you are fishing..fishing shaky head,,use 8-10 pds. Throwing a jig,,use 12-15 pds. Crankin a crank bait,,use 12 pd test this time a year.. This is how i flow..
As far as what to use right now,its kinda what you have the most faith in throwing..i would have all kinds of faith in the jig and the shaky head right now..pretty much everything you listed. Just remember confidence in you and what your throwing is the key to putting fish in the boat.
Find the shad,,,,,and you will find the bass!! You dont venture far from the refrigerator do you??? Lol!!
Seaguar..seaguar..:d
Re: different baits/ different line??
For me it is simple, topwater is mono and the rest flouro. The clearer the water the smaller the line. Ky Lake and I use 15-17 lb mono for topwater and 12-14 lb Flouro. Dale Hollow and it is 12pm mono and 6-10 Flouro
Re: different baits/ different line??
jig/worm- Fluoro
spinnerbait - Mono
shaky head- Fluoro
crank bait - Mono
Topwater - Mono
I use Fluoro on all my baits that require me to feel when my baits are being picked up...other than that, I use Mono on everything else.

How do u set up the braid with fluoro leader. I've been having trouble with breaking on hook sets and considered doing this. What side braid and fluoro? How long of a leader?
Re: different baits/ different line??
RichyD hit the nail on the head....If it's a presentation that requires a lot of feel, use fluoro....The only deviation I might have is throwing fluoro on a crankbait, because it sinks it will allow your bait to reach its maximum diving depth easier....When I'm fishing light shaky heads I'll throw it on a spinning rod with braid/fluoro leader...When fishing the heavier heads I throw it on a baitcaster with fluoro
Before venturing out and purchasing fluoro do your homework...There are a ton of different brands and you can find tons of reviews on all of them...I personally use Seaguar Invisx, but lots of people have good success with the BPS fluoro...Fluoro gets expensive
Re: different baits/ different line??
braid for frogs, mono for poppers, anything for buzz/spinners. braid for flippin heavier cover and fil is right on fluor for cranks
Re: different baits/ different line??

this is what i use for shakey heads, drop-shot, and any thing i throw with a spinning reel, the braid has no memory, and is really sensitive. I use about a 3ft. Ot 4 ft. Leader, either 8lb or 10 lbs depending on what/where i'm at. I use a mono leader, to absord some of shcok of the hook set. So far, i've never broke at the knot. I've had to change leaders, because i've broke off at the bait 3-4 times, but the knot has held. Right now i'm using 30lbs test spider wire braid, but i've also used power pro and berkley fire line, all worked well. Tr
