From experience never make an entry fee end with $5.00. Always make it end with a 0. If it ends with a 5 and the anglers want to split the entry fee you will have to have Silver to make change. That is a lot of trouble.
In answer to your question, Yes I think a $30.00 fee will draw more boats than $100.00
I think a lot of guys will skip out on a 25 dollar tournament because you arent fishing for much....unless its a little short weekly tournament or something....the 100 dollar entry fee will drive away a lot of your weekend fisherman that just fish tournaments for the enjoyment....50 bucks is usually a good number....makes it worth the time to fish if you win and isn't expensive enough to drive people away
$50.00 is a good fee for same reason above. With gas as high as it is $100.00 is a big added expense even when it is split between two partners.
We have a $20 winner take all tourney on the Ohio River on Wednesday evenings during the summer. It's a lot of fun. With the entry fee being so small, it's pretty laid back and pretty much all about fun more than anything.
Since I don't have a lot of time to pre-fish, I'm much more willing to gamble a smaller fee than a larger one.
roll with it Scott
I think $30 to $50 is good.

if 5.00 goes to big fish were back to 25.00 .:d
I think it would draw just as many.
I think the entry fee should be 200 at cox's park ohio river. But if it were at rough, 60 sounds good. With 10 going towards big fish.
It all depends on how many tournaments you will have and how often. I have been tourney director for about 3 years and I will tell you ours was $35 and $5 went towards big bass and $5 went to the classic pot. But I would suggest $40 and have an optional big bass pot, it would be alot easier to keep track of. You could make the big bass pot $5 or $10 which ever and have it as an "option".
I personally would fish more $25 weekly tournaments than $100 every week. A onetime $100 tournament would be different.
