Pretty poor taste if you ask me.
Hahahaha I didn't see it but it's just a joke. I remember when Tebow got the concussion when tackled (actually he hit his head on a fellow Gator while falling from the tackle, the tackle alone wasn't enough) folks joked like crazy about that. I was there and had to listen to it.....the carton is funny, tragic for the team, ironic or whatever but it will pass. Sad part or funny part is I think it's true.
Making fun of the team is one thing.
Using a young man's injury, which could hamper his professional career, to make fun of a team is in very poor taste.
People will make jokes about all kinds of things. Printing them in the paper in another.
I expect a pretty significant backlash for the Courier-Journal.

The CJTeflon Tefleon Don they have been print lies for years and nothing ever comes out against them.
With that said I don't think it was that tasteless. To spin the story maybe it is saying that he is all that and with out him they are not much of a team.
Would you expect anything less from a second rate classless newspaper. I recall the H-L doing something like this when Giorgi went down earlier in the year for Louisville. The joke is on CJ, because I bet it cost them a subscription or two plus may add a fuel to the fire to Nerlens for him to come back next year. Add Nerlens to next years team coming in plus add in one of the bigs they are recruiting and you have preseason #1 and the favorite to win the title.

if 2-4 players from this years team do not go to the NBA where is Cal going to have room to bring in the new recruits on scholarships ? If Noel stays im sure it puts a strain on one or more of the big recruits he has coming just because they will get less playing time and wont get to start every game.
just a question. i dont know the ins and outs of how that works.
As a UofL fan i hate seeing the kid injured like that regarless of any kind of rivalry, its a bad situation for him. its always hard to say one guy makes the team but in Noels' case its true. seems his presence on the court gave all the players on the team a boost of confidence.
Wiltjer, Harrow, Polson, and Hood are the only ones coming back on scholarship for sure....That's 4 scholarships gone....Cal has recruited 6 guys so far, that's 10 scholarships gone....You get 13 scholarships per year and would leave three for other guys....If Nerlens come back, thats one, and if Wiggins comes in, thats 2 and you're left with one to hand out to a walk on of either Malone, Long, or Lanter, or leave the door open for Goodwin, Poythress, or WCS to come back....I'm saying just looking at their attitudes on the floor, Goodwin and Poythress are gone for sure
While I think that cartoon is lacking a little taste...it's just a joke. How many of us have said that UK minus Nerlens = NIT? Stuff happens. Take the Courier Journal, the Herald Leader, fold them both up together and use the pages to wipe your ass on your next camping trip. Your dookie would be invisible on the pages because it would blend right in with the dookie already there in print. I think both papers ****.
And...also...not to take up for the SOB's, but there is text in the bottom right corner of the cartoon that says "Get Well Soon Nerlens."

In KY's case there is nothing but next year. I'm hoping the kid comes back strong, and in this case, I also hope he's done what is necessary educationwise to STAY at UK. He will probably need another year now due to the injury.
Next year, KY will be crazy good, and his presence would make them even better.

Next year, this year, LAST YEAR, every year fan of Kentucky here. You won't see me climbing back into the closet on a down year. Unlike, plenty of Louisville fans that find themselves as closet fans only to appear in the good years. Look at my record here and every fishin.com challenge I entered Kentucky is ALWAYS my pick to win the title. If by some miracle they make the tourney this year, they will again. Now crawl back into the closet and close the door. Better go find you a fair weathered Kentucky Fan to joust with because you come to this battle unarmed
Browns fan...Dallas Fan...I stand behind them regardless of season outcome...looks like this maybe IU's time to shine...but DO NOT forget about the Cards....and freakin Mich State,,,,(Tom..."PAC MAN Head IZZO")
