    14 mile creek

How is the bass fishing there? Was going to give it a try yesterday but it was muddy. I put in at Westport and am trying to find a few spots as I have a tournament there in a few weeks.

What tournament are you fishing? Info can get kind of tough on here for the river. Conditions of the river can literally change daily. I wouldn't hold out for a good steady pattern because with our screwed up weather and the fall weather pattern approaching, it could be good anywhere at any given time. I would try everything you can from main river to creeks, to marina's and have a back up for every spot you find. Good luck.

It is a small club tournament. I fished there yesterday and the fish were in the creeks. But the river was up. They should start moving back to the main river now that it's dropping again. How is this creek in the spring?

Those creek fish are resident fish. They don't move in and out due to river levels. Unless its really high and they r seeking refuge. Maybe first few hundred feet of creek fish might move some. If the main river is moving on a rise or fall fishing will be better there. Current is king. If u want to fish the creeks, they will start biting soon. Follow the bait, and don't be afraid to beef up ur presentation. U don't always have to throw small finesse stuff out there. They r getting ready to put the feed bag on soon

Also don't be afraid of the main being muddy. U can go big and fish current breaks with heavier jigs

Awesome advice. I am familiar with river fishing just not with this area. Everyone says that the small channel side of 18 mile island is good. I fished it and had nothing but a perch, but it does look good. Any advice on that area?

I don't catch much up there. You will find plenty of subtle and not so subtle current breaks around louisville area if the river is moving
