water depth isn't going to be an issue from the dam to Bville some 27 miles of river below the dam, (at this present time) we are getting some major shower s and the run off is major, what you will need to understand is how to run the river, with the levels now you can do it with some common sense an a good top 0.

It helps a lot to know which side of the islands to run. It may not always be apparent and sometimes the narrow side is the deepest. Stop in at Strange bait shop in Burksville just south of the square at the turn off to the ramp and they should know. They did have some copies of hand-drawn maps that you can make notes on. Some of the passes are pretty narrow.

Will the rain today-help or hurt?

I will stop there for sure...thanks for that Peter. I'm wondering now if the rain today will help things or hurt things. Sounds like there will be more current at the least.

    And Cumberland Falls area??

Might head down there the first weekend in October with my 6 year old and camp for the weekend. Any other suggestions for fishing around the falls area? We'll be bank fishing unless one of the canoe rental places will let us fish, seems like several only allow for guided tours. Always enjoy everyone's input.

    Nothing to report

No stripes...but beautiful country! Caught a couple trout, nothing big. Tried pulling boards with live bait and some casting Saturday and Sunday. Talked to one person that had caught a single Striper about 12 pounds. Had a good time and learned a little about the river...will do it again. Thanks to all for the help!
