Ever so slowly the control on marijuana is eroding by way of medical marijuana policy. It will not be long half the states in this country will allow the sale of marijuana to most anyone who desires to buy it. When we label marijuana as “medical marijuana”, it means it is a drug that only 2% of those who suffer from cancer, and 1% from HIV/AIDS uses. The rest is used by those with “unspecified pain.” In California, the typical user of “medical marijuana” is a 32year old white male with no medical problems, except for substance abuse. I can tell you there are groups as I write who are shaping the marijuana market for the future. It will follow the same path as alcohol and tobacco. Sellers will market to the underage and excessive users just as alcohol and tobacco was. There are big profits to be made. The debate goes on whether marijuana is addictive or not, but even to the occasional user, it is a “state-of-mind” which fuels the demand. My question is… “Will we as a country become so drug dependent thus becoming so dependent on our government for help and become so “comfortably numb” that we are unable to make an informed vote?” “Hello. Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? – Pink Floyd
