    Oil creek / Little Oil

Has anybody fished oil creek or little oil for crappie? Which branch is little oil the one that runs further east or the one that runs north west? Gotta take a break from all those 6 inch crappie at Patoka. Thanks for your help.

I'd like to fish those creeks some day. I just wish that I lived closer to them. I took a trip up there last year and took a lot of pictures of the area.

They should hold some nice crappie and bass at certain times. I'm not a river fisherman by any means. But I would think that you have to fish it when the river is either rising or falling or at a certain level. I would think that the current and water levels have a lot to do with the amount of fish in those creeks.

I'd much rather fish Patoka Lake than those creeks though. Patoka Lakes water is so much cleaner looking.

I know more spots to fish on Patoka since I've fished it many time over the last 20 + years. I've been fishing up at Patoka since it opened. I bought my bass boat so I could fish more at Patoka Lake and not have to rent boats at KY lake anymore.

Hopefully some others in here will comment and give you some tips. Although they may not be as forthcoming with information as others.

Are those creeks in part of the Hoosier National Forest?

You would be surprised how good river crappie fishing is. Lots of crappie in those creeks all year. And I would bet water quality is a lot better than most think. The river gets a bad rap. Even Harrods creek here by home is full of them. It's pretty much an untapped resource. U can have all the patoka crappie u want. I'm going to go catch em in three foot if water tomorrow.
