    When fish don't bite

I have been on the water many times, and for the life of me, I could not get a bite no matter how many lures I used or change in technique. The graph would indicate plenty of fish, but no reaction. I have heard of guys lowering cameras down to see what the fish were doing, and they were just laying there motionless. Is it the weather, the circadian rhythm, or moon phase? Maybe they have eaten their fill, too tired to chase a meal or too tired after a big meal. They could have used up their energy migrating, spawning, escaping from being “spooked” or simply maintaining their position in the current. It could be weather and water conditions in some way making them uncomfortable. Fish will avoid sudden changes in pressure, oxygen levels and/or temperature and will seek the most comfortable water to stay. Sometimes everything looks good to us, but something in the air and/or water has changed the behavior to feed. Sometimes fishing can be a mystery. Don’t take it personal. Fish just don’t bite at times. It’s no reflection on your intelligence or skills. Just pull out that sandwich and your favorite beverage and enjoy the day. The good news is …nothing stays the same so when tomorrow comes everything could change.
