Advice on when to replace one in the name of preventative maintenance?
DJD, American Standard and Trane are owned by Ingersoll Rand, my old air handler was an American standard, and it still worked fine after 26 years. a new water heater would be more efficient for you, I run a garden hose from my heater to the outside and drain it ever 3 years, cleans the bottom of the tank out, they work better and last longer.
