You know, I'm a Republican...but I think this Government Shutdown makes the GOP look like the biggest bunch of morons that ever was.

Whether you agree with Obamacare or not...and I'm not saying that I do...it's the law. It worked through the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of the Federal Government. It was signed into law and the Supreme Court ruled that it was not Unconstitutional. Like it or not, agree with it or not, the debate was had. It's time to deal with the consequences. Let the people who voted for these turds and wanted Obamacare see how great it's going to be.

BUT, for the Republicans to hold it hostage in this Debt Ceiling/Budget debate seems asinine to me. They can whine and cry that the Democrats won't compromise with them, but honestly...should they have to? Didn't we have the Obamacare debates already? Did it not pass and become signed into law? I don't think they should have to compromise on it, even though I don't like a lot of what Obamacare stands for. What's the GOP strategy here? The Tea Party has basically hijacked the joint. We have shut the government down, furloughed 800K federal employees, which is estimated to cost the economy $300 Million per day. Meanwhile, Obamacare takes affect anyway. The Republicans are being painted in a horrible light all over the country. Meanwhile, they are trying to pass bills back through today to re-fund certain parts of the government so that they can open back up...a piece-meal backdoor deal...on everything that the Democrats throw in their face, except for things that help fund Obamacare. The Democrats aren't going to vote yea for those bills, which are an obvious backdoor, so now the Republicans are going to call them on it as more political grandstanding.

This is unbelievably political. This whole WWII Memorial Thing is a joke too. It's a free standing concrete memorial. Why does it need to be barricaded up and shutdown?? A prime example of how unbelievably red-tape laden and paralyzed the Federal Government can make something something so simple. (And we want these people to handle our healthcare, right?)

This is so stupid. I'm sick of every one of the rotten SOBs.
Agree 100% and just said essentially the same thing to all my co-workers. I always vote conservative, but I am totally disgusted with the GOP.

How many times have we heard about "the rule of law" when these posers reached in their front suit pocket and pulled out their copy of the Constitution? Obamacare is the law. It passed both houses, the president signed it, and the Supreme Court upheld its constitutionality. I think that was a horrible decision by the Court, but it's the one they made.

This isn't about principle. They have none, except the principle of re-election. This whole debacle has occurred so some SuperPAC can run ads in the next election cycle with more half-truths.

I don't think Obama"surance" has anything to do with this. The issue is whether to raise the debt ceiling and I say we shouldn't.

Here's the question I don't see anyone asking: If the government is shut down, shouldn't they start refunding our tax dollars that they're not using?

Huh? Obamacare is the whole reason we're in shutdown mode. Rather than pass a clean Continuing Resolution (CR), the House has tacked on amendments to delay Obamacare implementation, delay the individual mandate, repeal medical devices tax, etc.

The debt ceiling issue won't hit the fan until Oct. 17.

OK. Let's say those aren't tacked on. If they refuse to raise the debt ceiling then we'll be right back where we are in 2 weeks.

And I do not want them to raise it, but I know that they ultimately will.

Yep, they'll raise it after they find a way to score whatever political points they feel like they need to score.

When will they ever stop raising it? We should demand it.
