We're headed down to Barkley on Saturday morning for a week's worth of fun and fishing. I'll be chasing crappie, shellcracker and even bringing two or three heavy catfish rigs. Would working the main river channel in the early mornings produce decent results? All indications say that Barkley is full of BIG Blue Cats and big ole flatheads..I'll be looking for Blue Cats to be honest.
Live bluegill/cut bluegill should work good? I've also been wondering how the redear bite is right now for anybody that had a clue, thanks.
I caught 20 to 30 lbs of channels and blues while fishing for bass on Barkley and Ky last weekend. We're headed down to Barkley on Saturday morning for a week's worth of fun and fishing. I am mostly a bass fisherman but several years back when the kids were younger I used to take them cat fishing on Barkley and this time of year was prime. I would take a cast net back into the creeks and load up on shad and take them back out to the where the creek channel connects with the river and find blues down around 25' to 30' on the bottom. Should be a great time for blues. If you can get skip jacks I would think all the more better. Blues are always out around the river.
