So my uncle and I decided to do a day float on the Green River and what an amazing trip. The float lasted 9 hrs and believe me that was not enough for me. Started out throwing buzz baits and it was immediately on. Man, when those brown babies busted the buzzer they were flying 2 feet out of the water. Caught a 17 incher and several smaller fish with the buzz bait. Pnce that slowed we changed over to the Rebel Craw Crank baits and the action fired right back up. He was using a chartreuse and I was using a gold and black. Caught an 18 incher in an eddy that had a spring running into it off the cliff. I think this cooled the water off a bit and that is why he was there. Caught several fish with the cranks. Then towards the end of the day the buzz bait was the ticket again. We caught 30 plus smallies and about 5 kentucky bass and 1 largemouth. 13 of the smallies were 14 inches or bigger and the 18 incher was the biggest. It was awesome to do a day float and not see another soul the whole day. No party bargers and no late year jet skiers. I would rate this experience in my top 5 beat trips ever. Too bad the leaves are about to fall and make it more difficult to use the top water and cranks. By the way I really think the success was due to the above average current that is being caused by the lowering of Green River Lake. Anyways, woke up this morning still revelling in yesterdays trip. Good fishin all.
