    Peace and Quiet

I have a very stressful job, alot on my mind. I seemingly run constantly and quite frankly its wearing me down. Tomorrow I shall climb into one of my several ladder stands with Smokepole in hand and just sit there. Sit there and watch nature do what nature does. No cell phone, nobody yelling what do I do now, this is broke, how can I make this work....none of it.

If I don't see a single Deer I will not care. I shall use my safety strap as I fully intend to fall asleep in that ladder stand. I then shall climb down and head back to the deer camp and drink beer with my buddies and cook over an open fire. The biggest issue will be is there enough to eat....and there will be.....

Yep peace and quiet, tomorrow will be a better day.....

There is truly something special about time alone in the woods.

I think I've posted this before, but Mark's post reminded me of it again:

    The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

    enjoy

Via condios, have a great day. Those days spent in duck blinds or goose pits in blue bird weather, when nothing was flying, and we knew it was a wash out, the sandwichs eaten, the coffee all gone, and you notice that no one is even looking, the comnversation down to nods, were just as good as a blind littered with spent shells, and jokes and jibes. But we forget them.
