Can anybody tell me the current water temp on the main lake from dam to jamestown?

Hard to believe its still that warm on the main lake. Killing my nite time crank bait bite for stripers.
I was in the back of Buck creek tues and it was 53.5. It was still 62 at the ramp.
Should be pretty close by the end of next week to where i'd like it to be.

65,6 at pleasant hill at daylight, 66 mouth of beaver right after daylight. 67 at 10:00a mouth of wolfe.
fish still feel warm to the touch when you get them in the boat, especially when the air temp is cooler than the water temp.

I read 64.5 in Greasey today from 1100 to 3 pm. My chilley hands didn't get the chance to warm up holding a preheated Striper. :-) Did pickup about 5 small jumps mainly off the point and cove across the lake from J-town' and a couple bigger ones mid of the lake west end bug woods. Gulls marked the spot.

I too like to plug for stripers at night. I learned many years ago to not even waste my time until the lake turns over. With those main lake temps, I would say that the turn over might not happen until after Thanksgiving. Thats been my experience for what its worth. Of course these smaller stripers might have a different idea. The size that are being caught now were considered schoolies back in the day. I sure hope the jumps are still going when I do finally make it down.

Going to Cumberland early tomorrow morning, anyone willing to help a guy out? Taking my 15yr old son and hoping to at least catch one. Haven't been since they pulled the water down to fix the ****. What, when, where are any striper being caught?

I too like to plug for stripers at night.

Are you hitting the wind blown side of a clay bank or a different type of structure? I've never fished for them in November at night but that is where I was told to find them.

I like to start when the surface temp is the same as the temp is at 30 feet. It seems to me this usually happens when the
surface temp drops below 60. Nothing at all like fishing for them in late spring. They gather on clay banks, especially points,
and can be stacked shallow and you'll never know it. I like to run and gun using mostly slivers but also little macs, long A, or
King shads. Usually they are very shallow. I've kept a diary for the last 20 years and they usually can be caught in about the
same areas as long as water temps are about the same. Slow down when you catch one because they tend to run in packs.
I do much better in the fall than spring.

The only banks that I totally ignore are rock banks. Transitions are a good place and like you said, clay banks. Trial and error have proven that certain banks are productive year after year and some are not. The important thing is water temps. If the lake hasn't turned over, then the fish haven't been "released" from their quality water restraints. It's all about the shad. Gizzards like the clay banks and so the stripers will be there looking for them. Gizz 4's both shallow and deep are all I need. Like Hardrock, I've been fishing this way for close to 20 yrs.

Thanks for the info! Finally caught one striper today it was short only 19" but we had a good time out on the water. Not many people fishing today. Caught one really nice smallmouth and several ky bass, enough for a good fish dinner for the family. Caught the striper in 10ft of water on a muddy bank at the mouth of beaver creek. Marked tons of fish in Indian creek and the **** area but couldn't get a bite.
