Would you shoot a white deer?

I'm not a hunter but don't necessarily have anything against it.

However...I saw this story today about a hunter shooting a completely white albino deer.

I was just curious, but I think if I were out deer hunting, I'd probably let the rare white deer pass by and not shoot it (other than maybe shoot a few pictures). It's so rare that I'd at least think twice.

You know I sukk at deer hunting compared to others on here but I would let that deer go for two reasons. First off its a little 4 pointer and secondly it is rare. Now if it was some monster with a fat 14 point rack then we is eatin deer meat....LOL actually I would have missed it anyway.

Yeah - maybe if it was a mature, trophy-type buck that was older and not going to live much longer I could see it. But I just don't get shooting this particular white deer. Maybe that's just me.

    albino deer

Dale hollow used to, and maybe still have some fallow, or speckled deer. I saw one that was almost all white. Have also seen an albino white wild turkey. But the strangest was an albino robin. My daughter thought it was "the sauce" talking, but the next day we both seen it.I also heard that there was boar hunt at dale hollow several years ago. As for eating deer, don't care for it. I was an avid duck hunter, but only tried to eat one once. I don't hunt anymore, I'm not against it, but why kill something I have no use for.

I would take a mature Buck in a heart beat as they are an awesome trophy and yes rare. I may shoot a Doe so I could tan the hide and have. I would also like to take a Piebald Deer which is one that is partly Albino. It is normal brown color but with white patches all over it, they are very cool looking.....Google it and check them out.

Piebald deer are what used to roam the state park at Dale Hollow. If it was a mature buck, I would definitely take it, if it was a doe, I would have to think about it.

I had an albino 8 pointer on my place about 7 years ago that a neighbor killed, they did a full body mount on it and it is located on a big plant ledge in Howard's Place restaurant in Falmouth,Ky

I personally had doubts about shooting it because it was neat to look at,but the truth is they are bad for the gene pool and also are poorly protected from predators, they stick out like a sore thumb in a cedar thicket. There is still an albino doe down a couple farms the kids see on the school bus and there are several piebald deer at Kincaid Lake State Park here in Pendleton county.
Reality is that its better to remove them from the herd.
