When the water I this high I try to fish the creeks mouth by the river. I usually do ok wit sauger and striper. The bait tends to school in there really well in high water conditions.
I have been fishing the falls trying t see when the sauger will move in and no luck yet. Only a few here and there. Had a few nice ones but no consistency on the bite.
I fished ky river dam #10 at Boonesborough state park on Black Friday between 6-10 AM. Caught 2 small sauger confirming that there are sauger that far up-river, and they are moving in for the winter. Caught them while fishing on bottom with minnow and floating jighead. I will continue to fish this portion of the river, and post any further info. Hope this helps.
Are you sure you got your dates right? I fished below lock 10 on Friday. I put in at Boonesboro before sunrise and was the only boat at the ramp. I fished the lock for over 2 hours and never saw another fisherman. In fact, the only other people below lock 10 on Black Friday were a couple walking their poodle on Boonesboro beach.I fished ky river dam #10 at Boonesborough state park on Black Friday between 6-10 AM. You are correct Kyriver. I was there on Saturday morning, not Black Friday. I originally planned to fish Black Friday but other things came up. I was there 6-10 but caught both fish around 7:30ish and then the bite stopped. I quit at 10.
