First Time to the lake this past weekend. Friday we had a good bass pattern targeting points with crankbaits and jerkbaits. The water temps was 53 degrees in the midlake region with stained clarity. They Drop this lake quite a bit!! A few bass also caught on 3/8 oz spinnerbait in the murkier water south of bridge. We totaled over 20 bass with best 5 weighing 16 lbs. I was impressed with the quality of fish we lucked into.
We also fished Saturday with the cold front. Switched over to crappie and caught 12 keepers with some smaller fish also in the standup timber the backs of cove in 6 to 9 feet of water. Mixed bag of white and black crappie.
After the sun came out we went down lake towards the dam and caught a few small bass. saw tons and tons of baitfish closer to the dam in the coves. Headed home before the Arctic cold front could catch us.
had a great time. Enjoyed fishing some new waters!

Barren still likes about 7ft before it gets to complete winter pool. For its size, Barren is one of the best lakes in the state. It consistently provides great tournament weights through the year.
We fished Saturday and Sunday for our clubs classic. Did real well Saturday with over 15lbs. Sunday was tough post frontal and only managed 8lbs and some change. We were stuck to the main lake all day with mechanical problems and had to troll, could not get to our fish.
November and December can be one of the best times on that lake for numbers and a chance to catch some very large Barren River Bass.
