I have fried many turkeys but they were under 16 pounds. My pot has a oil fill level for 16-18 pounds. Dilemma..... I have to fry a 25 pound bird Thanksgiving. Do I need a bigger pot or has anybody fried a big turkey in a similar pot? Thanks Tech

First a 25lb turkey might not even fit in the pot. Second make sure there is plenty of room for the oil. The last thing you want is 3 gallon of oil splashing over the pot.
The volume of oil left in the pot with such a large bird might not be enough to maintain the oil temperature. I would get a bigger pot
I always fried the turkeys for our shop dinner and that was for 18-20 people. I always fried several smaller birds because that's what my equipment was ready for and I was pretty good at it. I know it's to late but I would have done two 11 pound birds.
The other comments are spot on. Of course like I'm sure you know do this outside away from the house and keep pets and kids away until the cooking is done and the area is cleaned up. Enjoy!!
Thanks for the help folks. Ended up being a 16 # bird so my pot was good. 25. Was what it cost must need better glasses. Lol
Hope your Thanksgiving was good and thanks again! Tech
