Thanks floatman.....I have a feeling I'm goin shopping soon....
I have G Loomis FNF Rod that is super light. It allows me to work the fly in a manner that I couldn't do with a heavier rod. To me, that makes all the difference in the world. My advice, if that's worth anything, would be to buy the lightest rod that you can find and afford. I can't wait to get down to Dale and get after them! Happening soon, I hope!
I had a board member buy me a bps rod for the fnf, and i see no reason to purchase a much more expensive rod. I dont throw it often, so a more expensive rod really wouldnt be a must for me. I can see the need for a higher end rod when youre fishing a "feel" technique like a jig or worm, but dont see the necessity with the fnf where youre watching for bites. Length to be able to cast a longer leader is much more important
If you are just starting out, or an ole timer, the above is some good advise.I had a board member buy me a bps rod for the fnf, and i see no reason to purchase a much more expensive rod.
