We are down fishing Cumberland this weekend, mostly chasing the ol' Brown fish. The bite has been slow and only one quality fish. We fished some main lake areas today, but the water was tea stained with some floating film on the top in spots. Seemed like mid creek back was much better water for throwing the fly, but we were seeing some warmer temps. there?? Gonna try to focus more in the backs of creeks tomorrow.
1-anyone know what the surface film is, it stained the line on my swim bait rod?
2-anyone else out fishing on Cumberland this weekend that has had any luck?

smee the tea colored water and foam/film on top of the water is the lake is turning over. The lake does this every winter time the cooler water on top sinks to the bottom of the lake and the warmer water on the bottom of the lake comes to the top causing the water to stir up and all the junk on the bottom comes to the top. But following the turn over the water will be the same temp from top to the bottom for the most part. I am sure there are people on here that can explain it more indepth.
