I tow my 05 Triton TR21 XD with a 2010 Crew Cab Ram with the HEMI. Best value towing pickup for the money. Less expensive than a Toyota, Ford, Chevy, or GMC in a comparable class 1/2 ton pickup. I looked at all of them when I went to buy the truck. The Ford EcoBoost is the only one that will out tow it....but it was at least $6-8K more in price and all the turbo stuff scared me with possible future repair cost after warranty. Even at that the EcoBoost only has about 20lb/ft more Torque rating and a lower HP rating than the HEMI. The Chevy and the GMC has less power compared to the HEMI with the 5.3 and the Ford with the 5.4 or the new 5.0. I owned a Yukon (2wd 5.3L) and towed an enclosed trailer with it for a few months and it was a total turd compared to the HEMI. Dodge got it right when they redesigned the truck in 2009.
With that being said I agree with a post above. Braking is the most important. Most anything will tow but will it stop?? My rig has disc brakes w/controller and the whole 9 yards so I don't even know it's back there....stopping or going. Just make sure it's safe for your own sake and everyone else's on the road and you'll be fine.
Merry Christmas!
