They're stupid enough to choose 2% of the population over the overwhelming majority of the rest of us, I have the right to remove A&E from my favorites list and tune their dumb asses out...Just like I do to that brown eye loving parade of male pooseyes on CNN and MSNBC who are calling ole Phil 'vile' and 'disgusting'.

I believe A&E may have violated this law:

The Civil Rights Act of 1964
    Title VII

It shall be an unlawful employment practice to discriminate against any individual employment based on race, sex, nation of origin, color,or religion.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Phil Robertson's religious beliefs are that homosexuality is a sin.

Contracts won't work if they do what phil did

They could all go on GQ and say exactly what Phil said and get out of the contract or get a lawyer to sue A&E for firing Phil and not them. Easy as pie.

If the quit the show there are ways to do it right. If A&E were smart they would get down on their hands and knees and beg Phil for forgiveness and put him back on the show immediately and give a public apology to him and his entire family and all his friends.

According to what I'm reading in the local news polls Phil has about 90% + of the people on his side and A&E has about 2% support.

Anyone consider that this may just be a publicity stunt?

Well you bring up a similar point that I made about this show earlier in the year with the fellas at work. I always liked the show but I took it off my DVR list this year because it was to predictable. I don't mind the show but it's not for me anymore.

I like what they stand for and like the idea that I can have it on the tv without any possibility of a uber sexual moment popping up no matter who is in the room. Anyways, that being said...We discussed this months ago about how we can only take so much Duck Dynasty. It's at Walmart, toys, books, video games, commercials, Bass Pro, reruns and new shows. To me the show was just in my face to much and what they needed was a scandal to make us watch it again. My guess was a pregnancy popping up with one of the kids because we figured it will get old to others as well with the over exposed nature of these guys. I would have never guessed it would have been this because these guys are groomed to do a show and they speak at churches, special events and award shows. They know what is acceptable but Phil was asked a question and his heartfelt answer seemed true and sincere based on what I have read about him in fact if he would have played the PC middle of the road answer he may have pissed off the masses who hang on his words....just guessing that would happen, I don't know.
If it turns out to be a planned stunt I will be severely disappointed. I still agree with his answer regardless if it was a stunt or not.

Well said. I'm not a huge TV person, but Duck Dynasty was one of the few I never missed...but you can only do the same schtick over and over so many times before it starts getting kind of old and predictable. Every show has a shelf life.

The commercialization of this one has been way over the top.

Funny. They DID fall off the face of the earth though..and I don't think it was a freedom issue as much as they disparaged the currently sitting president during a WAR.

No matter how you feel about it, that was uncool.....and they paid a painful price for it.

LOL, I actual thought of that very example the other day. And yes it is a little ironic when the talking heads Like Palin etc all jump in and complain over people voicing their objections to what he said yet they do the same thing. It reminds me of a quote I read once that has always stuck with me. "Most people don't think -- they merely rearrange their prejudices."

That said there is one noticeable difference between this case and the Dixie Chicks. Their label didn't drop them for saying what they believed.

But I have said from the start A&E has every right to protect their brand (although I think they got it wrong here) as they see fit and to fire/suspend anyone if they think it is in their best interest to do so if that person chooses to make controversial statements that draw negative attention to their company that can possibly impact sponsors support.

I would like to believe that Phil knew very well that was a real possibility yet viewed defending his faith as a much higher priority than worrying about how A&E would view things, and instead he looked at this as an opportunity to spread the word about salvation through Jesus Christ for all sinners.

Yes funny but not the same. The people chose to boycott them and that's their choice and some corporation didn't make it for them. We choose all the time at what we think is right and wrong and that's our choice. For example, I think this love affair with women bashing, women belittling, women being portrayed as whores by so many rap stars is wrong so I stay away from anything they support as much as possible. Yes I'm a little more sensitive to that because I have two daughters and that's my choice. MTV wants to promote this? I choose not to watch their channel...pretty simple really.
