Classic college basketball

So I've discovered the wonderful world of yesteryear on youtube. IU vs. Kentucky 1981, 1984. Louisville vs. old metro conference foes. UK vs. NC State (Spud Webb, Lorenzo Charles, Chris Washburn dismissed) and other various foes, St.John's with Chris Mullen and Walter Berry vs. Georgetown with Patrick Ewing and lots of tournament games. The old CBS and NBC intro songs. Man how the game has changed, and not for the better. I forgot what it was like to pass the ball around and look for the open mid-range jumper (and hit it consistently) or pound it inside. None of that dribble drive and dish to the perimeter crap that todays game seems to revolve around. Senior laden teams. Now I didn't like the no shot clock rule.

Here is a crazy Louisville game from 1988. Louisville vs. South Carolina in 1988 at South Carolina. Louisville down 10 with two minutes to go and a South Carolina player takes a swing at Labradford Smith and a bench clearing brawl breaks out. At one point a fan does something to Pervis Ellison and He tries to go into the stands. Anyway, everything gets sorted out and there are some technical shots. Craig Hawley hits a half court shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime where Louisville comes back and wins. Craziest basketball game I have ever seen.

I watch old games on Youtube all the time. I have now seen the Duke versus Louisville game from the elite right last year about five times now and have lost count on the NT game, lol....

I watched that one last night Tim. You were right, that game had everything. Took me forever to figure out how they cut the deficit so much shooting the technicals though. With everything going on you don't notice that the initial foul involving Pervis under the basket happens while a 3 is in the air........which went in. Then the fight started. Pervis gets 2 at the line for the foul then then the 6 technical shots. So in essence it was a 9 point play and they got the ball back!

That fan that tried to smack Herbert Crook was a tool.

Here at my lunch break I just watched the 1995 Louisville versus Kentucky game in Freedom Hall. It was Denny against a loaded Rick team ranked 5. Samaki Walker went all Anthony Davis with a triple double and broke the Cats heart with a two point win. Man that Kentucky team was loaded big time.
