Greatest war movie ever, there has never been a better one made and yes Band of Brothers is also a masterpiece.

What always strikes me is how regular old ordinary people turned into warriors and served with such distinction. I know the movie were talking about is VERY loosely based on fact, but the real Captain Miller was a high school English composition teacher. One of hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans who stepped up to the plate in a big way.

Amen Jim and the women worked their asses off making ammo, serving 24 hour days saving lives as nurses and countless other ''essential'' roles that enabled us to win the war. At home ALL Americans backed our efforts with every fiber in their being and even if they didn't agree they **** sure kept it to themselves. I look back at my Mom and Dad with complete respect, Dad was a SeaBee in the Pacific theatre. They both worked their entire lives and I never really remember them ever complaining about it. Dad was content to be a man, Mom was content for him to be one. Mom was content to be a woman and Dad was content for her to be one. It worked and their was a mutual respect of what each other brought to the table. They fought, Hell everybody does but the roles were never wishy washy and it was basically a pretty well oiled machine as most from that era had.

Today the lines of seemingly everything are blurry and grey. Some things were never meant to be blurry and grey folks the natural order of things is very screwed up in my opinion and they will never return. I'm just thankful there is enough of us left that ''GET IT'' and can hopefully pass on some basic wisdom that should always apply.

I have an Aunt who is 95, and she put together guns and shells during the war. She is still going strong and one Tuff Cookie. I have never heard her complain once. It just kills me to see so many young people in this nation who have no clue what that generation did for them to waste a brain. I am so pround of my neighbor's son who I watched grow up next door and become a member of the Navy Seal Team 6. What those guys do is beyond belief at times, and when I see what he has accomplished in this day and time, it bring tears to my eyes. How in the world did we allow our morles and principles in this great nation get this low? Well, we really do know don't we.

I used to sit for hours on the living room floor in my Grandparents little house and listen to my Grandfather tell stories from WWII. I begged him to tell me stories...and his routine was to hold out on me for anticipation, then take off into a great one. He loved telling me how it was in the Army about as much as I loved hearing it. From North Africa, to Italy, to France...I heard the best and worst of them. I honestly felt like I went to war with him, because he was one of a dying breed of great story tellers. I've been a WWII buff ever since.

As he got a lot older and became disabled, he was active in the DAV color guard up until he couldn't hardly walk anymore. I watched him as a flag man first in parades, then in the funerals of his buddies doing ceremonies with the flag, bugler, and 21 gun salute. Watching his group do the ceremony at his funeral was probably the hardest and proudest moment of my life. Cried like a baby.

I really can't express how much I admire the man...and most of the millions of men just like him from that generation. Without question, THE greatest generation of Americans. The World would be a lot better place if more folks had the values, patriotism, and resolve that they had.

Oh, and anybody who doesn't cry at the end of Saving Private Ryan is a commie. Best WWII movie ever.

Totally agree on Saving Private Ryan it gets me every time....but what gets me worse is this interview from the Band of Brothers "grandpa were you a hero in the war? Grandpa said....no but I served in a company of hero's". I was so engrossed in that movie that I felt I knew the guy and that just tore me up.
