I'm sure a lot of you crappie fishermen have at least heard of spider rigging. Any tips or equipment that you have got to have?

Check out the crappie.com site. There are threads on spider rigging. Go to the KY discussion board for local info. The guys are great and they monitor this board too.

gotta have rod holders, and a rod/reel for each. Some guys mount these on removeable pipes, either sch. 40 pvc or aluminum, that mount up on the side of the boat. Some guys mount directly to the boat. Mostly I see guys with 3-4 to starboard and 3-4 to port, usually near the trolling motor/bow area. gotta have a giant box of jig heads in various colors, weights, and shapes. gotta have a giant box of jig bodies, tubes, grubs, critters, in various colors and sizes. it would pay to have a fishfinder screen where you can see it while running the trolling motor. A good drift sock might not be a bad idea.
We usually start with colors that are obvious depending on water clarity, and use a big enough jig head to just hold the bait down. Try to keep the jigs just above the marked fish. Seems like crappie prefer to hit coming up. Whichever head/body combination gets the most action, we switch the other rigs to match.
If you ever go out by yourself and get into em heavy, you'll wish you had eyes in the back of your head!
