Most certainly there are still some monsters in there. From what I heard, the die offs happened to fish in the main lake area. It's become known in recent years that stripers use much more of the lake at all times of the year than was previously suspected. That means there has to be some older fish that made it due to being in the creeks. The question for me isn't IF they are there, but HOW MANY. December through February is a great time to run into some of the monsters that are left.
