    Hydrowave

Has anyone had any experience with using the Hydrowave? I noticed they now have a portable version for under $150. Just wondering if they are worth the investment.

I personally don't have any experience with them, but I have a buddy who tournament fishes in Indiana and he swears by his. I want to buy one too, but I'm going to hold off on any big purchase until I start out-fishing my 7 year old daughter who uses a barbie pole and wax worms. Maybe that's my solution - does Shakespeare make a 7' MH barbie pole I can pitch/flip with?

I liked mine so much I sold it after a season. I think it works some of the time, but it's definitely not magical. I did witness it get the shad stirred up on a few occasions and got a few more aggressive bites when I was already on active fish. I asked Mike Iaconelli at a Bass University Session if they really worked and he said they work 20% of the time. 20% is a nice boost to have.

Some swear by it and others laugh at it. I think it might be a good tool to have but I get much more use out of the new rod I bought when I sold it.

I have an acquaintance that uses one. He's not so sure about it helping to attract fish, but his thought is that it's worth the money if it'll help cover the trolling motor noise, especially in shallow water.

Per Boyd Duckett and Mark Davis:

"They work, but if you use them at that wrong time, I've seen them scare off as many fish as they've fired up."

Not sure if those were the exact words, but pretty close.
